turn switch install

Hi Everyone
I have a 1966 F100 vin F10YR802980 it seems every time I try to buy something for this truck it doesn't look like the part I'm replacing. The problem I'm having now is I got the turn signals to work by tracing the fuse behind the dash but I had to hold the lever in place so I went online to purchase a new switch to replace the one in the steering column. I found all kinds but none looked like the 7 wire one that is in my automatic I bought a 8 wire one put it in and matched all the wires but one. Now it won't even start and no turn signals at all my horn works now any ideas what I missed. Thanks for any help.

If you got an 8 wire and the original was 7, then you have the wrong one.

I believe switches into the '70s will fit in place, but the wiring colors are different. The result is connecting same color wires actually doesn't work. You should be able to make it work but you will need to determine which wires do what for both the harness and the switch and then make the necessary connections.

Did the new switch have a Ford part number? If so, what is it?

Thanks for the response.
Your right playing around with the wires I have the signal lights working now but it still will not start. The old one must be a aftermarket also after cleaning it up I found BPB ATL only on it.

I'm wondering if the shift lever is not going back in place correctly, before this all I had to do was bump the key and it would start now I have a whole day lost and a truck that doesn't run.

I edited in some additional sources, one is in North Hollywood.

Temecula: Antique stores and Pechanga Casino.

C & G Ford Parts is located in Escondido. I don't know if they have the correct switch, but I'd call 'em and ask.

Hilltop Classics is also located in Escondido, but they mainly have 1955/66 Thunderbird parts.

Compare the old switch with C&G's new switch, the wires should be the same.

Other sources: FTE sponsor Blue Oval Truck Parts is located in an industrial area of NE Anaheim and The Truck & Car Shop is located on Batavia Street in Orange.

Hey guys following this post. Want to put my dilemma out there.
Horn inoperative and turn signal switch not shutting off with the wheel. I pulled the wheel and found picture 1. Turn signal cam broken and horn button in pieces in the bottom of the housing.
Turn switch C3TA-13341-A1 Cant find this number any where so what is the part number I need and who has it.
Internal horn contact brush appears to be the exact same as the horn contact brush under the horn button. Can I get a confirmation on this? And I did see somewhere that NB posted 78 button/insulator parts somewhere in the North.

What is up with the 64? and the inability to track certain parts. Its like that year Fomoco was on documentation strike! Woodstock wasn't tis 69 so we can't blame it on Tie-Dye fatigue and LSD.

The number you quote is the engineering ID number stamped on the part - that is different than the part number.

Try part number

C3TZ-13341-B

Green Sales has 2

C3TZ-13341-B | RearCounter.com | 2 found at 1 seller

Click on that link and you can get their phone number.
