To Retrax or not to Retrax

Should I order the Retrax for my 2017 or not? I have a quote for $1499.00. I hate to spend that much money but... I need some help on justification to my wife.

I did it. I used to have a Pace Edwards. It wore out after a couple of years. Finally had to take it off and toss it. I hope the rollers on the Retrax last for years. In the videos it rolls fast and easy.
For some dumb reason I went with the PowerTrax. It moves way faster than the Pace. I think they look great. Other than the cost, I don't think any other are better.

Are there any low in bed tool boxes that will work with the Retrax Pro MX?

Retrax

Just put the Retrax Pro on my 2017 F450. Works and looks great. I tow a 5th wheel and you can place the cover in any position while towing. Great security for your hitch and all your other stuff.
I had one on my old 2008 F350 for 7 years and it looked and worked great when I sold the truck.
You won't regret it.

Yes!

Had the Powertrax on my 2011. Lasted a good 5 years in the sun here in Texas....so on my 2017 I stepped up to the Powertrax pro Mx and love it better! Not the 2300.00 price tag, but nothing is better out there, IMO.

Spending others money is always more fun.

Power or manual?

Manual. Could barely justify it much less the power one...

I'm about to go into the garage and install a Retrax MX Pro. That was a hard thing deciding on which bed cover to go with as I've never used one before. Talk about decision paralysis. Each cover had its own pluses and minuses. In the end I went with this one based on reviews of the members here.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Pictures please when you are done buddy. Better yet how about a famous Epic Video of the install.

Later!

I put the Retrax on the truck. It was really easy and I like the look and function. There's so many install videos out there already I figured I didn't need to do one.

There were two bummers though. This happened in shipping:

Tried to flatten it but the aluminum is deformed.

The other problem is the front cap piece. The one they included in the box is 1 inch too short. I have it temporarily placed but will need a new one.

Mine arrived late this afternoon. I have it assembled on the garage floor and plan on mounting it on the truck tomorrow afternoon. It has gotten dark and is really raining here in Austin...

I had one small dent on the the bottom side of mine which I will post a photo of - back side of the bracket is at the bottom of the canister up against the front of the truck bed. No one will ever see it an it will not affect function from what I can tell.

I'll post full photos tomorrow!

Oh -looks very cold there in Utah.

Oops...never mind. Just noticed that you purchased the Retrax.

Might want to look at Gator Covers. See link.
Tonneau Covers from GatorCovers.com

They appear to be very similar to the Retrax...
