You would probably have to replace the security module. However....
Back in my SHO days, that model's remote security module could be opened up and the internal jumpers could be changed to change the default pass code. I've no idea if that same scheme was carried forward to the Excursion, but it might be an avenue to explore besides swapping the module to get one with a different code.

No way to know what code was used to get in though.
Changing the user-programmable code is always a good idea:

...and anyone who doesn't disable that keypad should install an alarm. The instructions I listed above were found directly on the internet with a 2 minute google search. ANYONE can get in within 5 minutes on an older (2000-2001) model. Adding an alarm (in your case with an additional hood lift switch) is advised.

I called the local dealer and explained the situation. He confirmed that the module would need to be changed. It is on current eternal back order and is $300, plus 2 hours install and programming at $110 an hr. I found a used one for $100 and still looking at 2 hours install time.
Local kustom shop that does some really cool stuff is also an audio and alarm shop. $350 for an alarm installed. That is probably the way I will go.
