We're tentatively considering another Truckfest in 2017. A lot will but it's fun to have a bunch of fellow truck nuts visit. Hopefully we'll be able to convince more northern members to show up.

52 USCG Panel 02-29-2016 04:26 PM

Bob, I would sure try to make your event. Hopefully with a new radiator, my truck would be up for the trip. This is what my truck looks like these days:

Just about ready for paint!

bobj49f2 02-29-2016 05:07 PM

Jim, you have over a year to get ready :-X22

52 USCG Panel 02-29-2016 10:44 PM

Bob, I was half thinking of asking you if I could tag along with you if you were making the trip to Tennessee for Truckstock this Fall. My truck could be ready I think, and I would feel better going on an interstate adventure with someone like you who has done it before and who understands old trucks like ours.

If Germantown 2017 is a go--I should for sure be ready--and after that Tennessee!

bobj49f2 02-29-2016 10:50 PM

Jim if it does happen it'll be "Jackson 2017", we moved up the road about five miles to Jackson.

52 USCG Panel 02-29-2016 11:53 PM

I was thinking Truckstock was always in the Southeast somewhere and that your Germantown/Jackson WI event would be something different--something in addition to the regular Truckstock gathering. Thanks for setting me straight.

Thanks Ray. Now I think I have the Truckstock--Truckfest thing sorted out.

bobj49f2 03-02-2016 12:19 PM

Jim we, Rob in Illinois and me, used the term "fest" to kind of differentiate our meets from the honorable Truckstock. They are all basically the same kind of event. I held mine to try to get some participation from members in the upper Midwest who aren't able to participate in the meet that happens in the southern part of the country. Really, both the same thing.

52 USCG Panel 03-02-2016 06:18 PM

Bob, I'm always up for an adventure and would enjoy your event--I'd like to go to Truckstock sometime too. Taking the back roads across country and seeing rural America at 45mph is very appealing to me.

It is with a heavy heart that I must mention that I won't be attending TS 2016 this year. Even though the 56 is near completion, I have decided to take a Chicago to LA to Chicago trip this coming August on what remains of Route 66. It is a bucket list thing for me and this is the first year that gas prices make it more reasonable to do it. Also, my father wants to go with me for part of the trip and at 71 he isn't getting any younger. I will miss the event and people but can't justify to big trip so close together.

Let me know when you're coming thru ABQ, Ty. I also have some tips for 66 in OK/TX, PM me if interested.

DR Smith 03-14-2016 08:56 AM

I'm looking forward to September. How about you guys?

Jolly Roger Joe 05-21-2016 06:36 PM

We have a cabin reserved and hope we don't have to cancel.

Still won't be driving my truck there (maybe next year?), but looking forward to seeing "the gang" again.

49f3dls 05-21-2016 06:50 PM

I have a cabin reserved also but Bobbi (my wife) may not be going so if someone would like a cabin PM me and I will not cancel it. I plan on just getting a room at the inn. If no takers I will cancel it. Dave S

ALBUQ F-1 05-21-2016 07:44 PM

The cabins are fine for sharing, Dave. I'm with Dave Smith and his wife. All the action is at the cabins.

That works too. If anyone wants to share it I am willing. I just don't want to give it up or be the only one in it. If two couples would want to split it I can easily go to the inn.

raytasch 06-03-2016 08:35 PM

About time to bump this.

raytasch 06-16-2016 08:50 AM

What is it now, only three months till TS16

49f3dls 06-16-2016 09:46 AM

It is getting close but that also means summer will be over, but a great way to end it!
FYI -Wade Johnston (cruisetopdown) is going to be sharing the cabin with us so it is no longer available.

Well, we do have to cancel. :(

I will wait a few days before giving up the reservation in case someone else on here wants to reserve it. Just email me or send a PM.

ALBUQ F-1 07-02-2016 08:46 PM

Sorry to hear it, Joe.

DR Smith 07-03-2016 08:42 AM

firstrider 07-03-2016 10:14 AM

Thanks to Joe Cox we will be able to attend Truckstock for the 3rd yr. in a row. Cabin 321 will be occupied by the wife & I and firstriders_daughter , granddaughter Fallon & Scott . See all of you in mid Sept.

DR Smith 07-04-2016 04:41 PM

sounds like we are going to have a great turn out. As there is a great restaurant , Breakfast is eaten as a non group function , Some of us sleep later than others . I am thinking of picnic lunches chill , sandwiches , hamburgers and hot dogs . Then at night restaurant Thursday and Friday with Sat being a hang around and food at the cabins , anyone have some Ideals or want to make something . Cindy will have plenty of cookies .

So, what Truckstock will this be? I know there is or was one out west.

Would it be "Truckstock 4" for example? Or "Truckstock 5"?

I think we are sticking with Truckstock 2016.
But here is the rundown

Truckstock 2012 Blackey, KY
Truckfest 2013 Normal IL.
Truckstock 2013 Blackey, KY
Truckstock 2014 W, Portsmouth, OH
Truckfest 2014 Germantown, WI.
Truckstock 2015 Pikeville, TN
WC Truckstock 2016 Lincoln, CA.

NEXT*** Truckstock 2016 Pikeville, TN

So this will be our 8th event.

ALBUQ F-1 07-05-2016 11:12 PM

Two thoughts on the food situation.

First, I don't think it's fair that Joe or anyone else bears the brunt of providing the bulk of the cookout food, utensils, sides, etc., compensated or not. How can we spread the effort around?

Second, the lodge restaurant is great, but it would be nice to cruise into Spencer or Pikeville for a meal or two. There's a small restaurant in Spencer that gets high marks, The Old Times Cafe. Worth a try?

I agree. The lodge restaurant is really handy for breakfast, but I'd like to see a change of scenery for some of the evening meals. I can bring (or get at the local grocery stores there) any of the necessary cookout food, utensils, etc.

Starting to really regret we are going to make it this year. It been a long year and could use a road trip. Always next year. Have fun everyone.
