lowering front end on 52 F-1
 

Hello, I am going to lower my front end 2" - 2 1/2" from stock. Right now I have a stock front end with a sway bar and a dampener attached to the I frame from the stock axle. My question is when I lower the front by taking out some leaf springs, will that change my camber, caster, alignment, etc?

I read that I might have to place some 2 or 4 degree shims in to get it back to standard measurements.

Has anyone completed this and if so, how many degrees did you have to use to shim your front end with to get it to standards?

I am in Denver as well (north about 20 min). I went back and forth a few times deciding how to lower the front of my 52. For me I finally decided to pull the trigger in a set of dual leaf posies. They claim 3" drop over stock. After reading a few threads of people removing leafs on the front I decided the best option for me was replacement. I also toyed with the idea of getting the stock axle dropped by nostalgia sids in OK. I don't have any real world measurements yet as I am still rebuilding the steering before I get it back on the ground. As far as alignment specs, doing tow yourself is easy. Caster can be measured at home as well. This is easily adjusted by shims between the axle and the springs. For me I am going to get it all back together and see how it feels before I change any shims. Do some research on the jeep forums as a ton of that info is applicable.

If you are just pulling a leaf or two that won't change your alignment as long as you leave in any caster shims under the leaf springs. You want 6-7 degrees caster. I believe the posies springs come with caster shims.

I went the Posies Dual Flex route on the front and per their recommendation their Super Sliders on the rear wit Bilstein shocks on the front. I got a 2-3" drop. Here are some pictures. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1306571-posie-question.html#post14401997
