my fridge is a fridge. BRRRRR. Need help in real time
I am in the process of hooking up my magic air heater which I removed last fall for repairs. Hoping to take my best girl for a spin this afternoon. What I need to know is the routing of the heater hose. From the firewall it seems clear the top hose goes to the valve on the inner fender. I thought it would be more obvious, but now I can't tell if after the valve it goes to the top pipe on the water pump or vice versa. BTW, at some of your urging I ordered a factory service manual, but unfortunately it has not arrived yet. I suppose a photo would be best, or just a description. Thanks in advance. In the mean time I'll go back to cutting off a bunch of tie down hooks the po welded to the side of the bed. All crooked. Who would do that???

I could sit here and type it all out and sound like maybe I knew something but you might better check out this link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...off-valve.html
I took the Mrs. for a ride a week ago today and she put in a little area rug, a blanket and a little pillow to get the old truck up to her comfort level. |
Well this is your half and half cousin part slick and part fridge checking in. According to the 61 service manual and you can take it for what its worth. The heater hose that connects to the flow valve goes to the water manifold connection the other goes to the pump. Thats on a 61 so not sure if your fridge truck would be the same. Yup sounds like your bed was farmerized. Sorry to all the farmers reading this nothing against doing what they did. Please make the welds straight if your gonna make them.

Thanks Guys! This helps. I'll check back tonight......So far the blower works on 2 speeds.

Well, a couple of guys showed up to help me roof my newest shed. We got the last roof panel on at about dark. I guess the ride will be tomorrow, but now I have room to park 2 more rigs. Just in case........

B8C-18495-A .. Heater Water Valve-Use w/Fresh Air Heater (Motorcraft YG-134) / Obsolete
Half and half cousin applications: 1957/60 all trucks except P Series Parcel Delivery & School Bus / 1961/64 F100/1100. This valve is spliced into the inlet to heater core heater hose. There are 11 (or less) of these valves available NOS |
Those are frequently available NOS on eBay,as well.I've bought two,the one on my truck, plus a spare, and that was before the aftermarket began reproducing them.As I've no confidence in the aftermarkets' ability to consistently produce parts of high quality,I try to niff out the NOS stuff.Bill is the best at that.

As I've no confidence in the aftermarkets' ability to consistently produce parts of high quality, I try to sniff out the NOS stuff. Dammy is the best at that. NumberDammy sez: There is no repro heater water valve AFAIK. Coupla days ago, a member emailed me, had been looking for one for quite a spell. I found 11 of the little charmers NOS (How many he bought, I dunno. But, if he's anything like you, there may be none left!). And...it's not listed in DC's catalog. |
Bill, they began appearing a few years ago,but haven't seen them in awhile. They were definitely the same valve, but also definitely NOT Ford.Maybe a stash of 60's era parts from when more manufacturers copy-catted the genuine parts?
Sacramento Vintage Ford actually still lists it for sale, and has a photo.Their application says 57-60 and 61-66.It is visually identical, but they do not say if it's for the standard or the Magic Aire heater. |

Maybe a stash of 60's era parts from when more manufacturers copy-catted the genuine parts? Once manufactured (dunno about today) by Ever-Hot .. sold in autoparts stores. It's still available from Ford (price just went up): MSRP: $46.16 / PARTSGUYED.COM price: $27.70. Your pal Tee Hee said that he/she used this valve as a substitute for the one on his/her '51. |

1957/1964 is not the same as 1965! They may be selling C3UZ-18495-A which is the cable controlled heater valve for 1963/67 Econoline, 1965/66 F100/1100, 1965/69 N/NT/T500/1000, 1967/72 F100/750.

Haven't heard a reference to "it", for sometime! LOL!:):)
Pretty sure I discovered him at least once, outed him and he promptly disappeared.Either that , or I ran off an innocent bystander.Oh,well, there's always collateral damage in a war.. See this thread, starting at post # 23 to the end: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...air-force.html And check this one out, on post # 63: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post10603318 Now,eat a bunch of aspirin, take a nap and forget that nightmare. |
I guess I missed all that drama..... The first couple posts mentioned manifolds etc that doesn't make any sense to me. I think one truck was older and one newer. Could I bother someone pop their fridge hood and see if the top hose coming out of the heater core goes into the cable operated valve and then to the top fitting on the water pump. Looks like the valve which turns the hose at 90 degrees directs it to the bottom hose. Maybe it doesn't even matter. Think I'll head down to my mailbox and see if my manual arrived in the Saturday mail. Nice clear morning for a drive. Thanks, Gary
|
Gary,it matters. From top of heater core to water pump.from bottom of heater core to valve, then to manifold.Checking that for you got me out of my recliner - but only for a minute!Gotta go do chores soon, the boss is giving me dirty looks as she buzzes around the kitchen.Good for her!

Got It!.. I'll go hook it up. Btw, I was typing to the new kid this morning about his f250 axle, thinking kinda fun to welcome a new guy to the site(since I'm so new myself) and I submitted it only to find you beat me to it. Dang! Thanks for getting up out of your recliner. It's a beautiful day for a drive in the country. I just wish the license plate didn't have a sticker from '97. Oh well, we're 12 miles from town and in 30 years I've only seen the sheriff at this end of the island about 3 or 4 times.......
