As long as the orientation of the tube is correct it should be fine.

I was reading a post you created about the 7.3L dipstick repair kit. I'm going to be pulling my engine and rebuilding it shortly. Do you see anything wrong with just welding the dipstick adapter plate to the side of the oil pan? If you do I'll just purchase the repair kit but if you don't I would rather just weld it and be done with it.
