i was re-reading this thread today and noticed on the first page pics of the front leafsprings that there are groves down the center for the rivits to slide? was this factory ford f2 stuff or were the front springs swapped out at MH. i dont think my f3 has those groves. and this is off track, but how do you list your trucks at the bottom of your post? like Stu has the v8 and i6 listed. thanks again for the tire info Stu, i will send you some pics of the 19.5s when i get them home. the wind is so bad here that i cant go into the yard for fear of getting hit with flying car parts. just got the mail and the state sent me a copy of the last know title, 1/26/60. the correct vin#is f2d2 so that means i6 right? well, gotta do a google search for albert now, he was the last know owner, let the games begin!

Mine don't have the groves, and the F-2 donor chassis I have doesn't either. I checked my pic file too and don't find any others with it, so maybe they were swapped due to a busted spring, etc.

Go to your "User CP" on the left side at the top of the page, then go to "edit signature".

You bet.

the wind is so bad here that i cant go into the yard for fear of getting hit with flying car parts. just got the mail and the state sent me a copy of the last know title, 1/26/60.

I thought that wasn't possible anymore since the federal privacy laws were passed in the '90s. Guess it's state by state. Illinois won't do it anymore.

the correct vin#is f2d2 so that means i6 right?

Right. Should be a 215. well, gotta do a google search for albert now, he was the last know owner, let the games begin!
Hope that covers it. Stu

thanks for the info Stu. so i take it ford didnt switch out the front springs. and as far as fed law, i have no idea, but this is SD and they did send a copy of the 1960 title. no address but i got the city and name which made it pretty simple. gonna send him a letter but i am guessing he is no longer with us. if thats the case, hope he would be happy that the f2 MH is in caring hands. might take awhile, but it will be on the road, or off the road again. makes me wonder if someone will look after my junk 50 years from now.

M-H rated all F-2s and F-3s at the same weight rating, 6800 lbs. The heavier F-3 spring package was optional on F-2s, as was the lighter package on F-3s, so my assumption is that the F-2s were all spec'd with the heavier springs from the factory. That might be something you could compare on your two trucks. Why they equipped the F-2s with the rear shock mounts and 16" wheels, though, is a puzzle since the F-3 got neither set up. Stu
