1997 Ford F350 7.3L died going down the road now it won't start
My truck died going down the road today and now it won't start. No lights came on. I looked at all the fuses and discovered that the IDM fuse was blown. I replaced that but it still won't start. I have checked all fuses and the valve on the fuel filter, none of the fuses are blown and diesel is coming out of the valve when you press it. There is no air in the system. It will crank but not start. Any ideas. Could it be the camshaft/crankshaft position sensor or something else?

By "valve on the fuel filter" do you mean the yellow tab? If so that is the fuel bowl drain. I expect if you've drained the fuel a few times it still may not start. Easy checks: Open the fuel bowl and check to see that you have a clean fuel filter, look in the little hole inside the bowl towards the driver's side and make sure that screen is clean, top off fuel bowl with diesel and reinstall filter slowly, check codes. You can buy a new CPS to try. It can cause no starts. If the IDM fuse was blown then something may have caused that. You can pull the IDM and shake it to see if water is inside. A little more info would help too. You have a chip? Enough oil?

Does the tach move when you crank it? If it does the CPS is good. Do you get white smoke when you crank it? If you do, then you're getting fuel. Are you sure fuse 22 under the hood is good? The fuel bowl heater can short out and blow it. Disconnecting the middle electrical plug from the drivers side of the fuel bowl will disconnect the heater (you don't need it) and prevent you from blowing more fuses, if that's the cause.

Once again .. does the WTS light come on when you first turn the key on?
Don't worry about the heater as it does little to nothing. I thought you said you found a broke wire on the heater connection. Anyway, yes you can unplug the heater wire but if fuse #22 (under hood) fuse box is blown you need to replace it also.
