1999 F150 4wd: Fit a 390?

I have a '99 F150 4x4 with a blown 5.4L V8. I also have a good running 390 out of a '69 F150 Camper Special (may possibly be a 428). Unfortunately the '69 is 2wd so I won't be able to use the 4 speed. However, I'd like to mate the 390 to my 4R70W in my '99. Motor mounts would be relatively easy to manufacture if they're not available. However, I'm not sure about the flywheel/torque converter and the bellhousing. Are there any conversion kits available and if not, what will be needed to do this conversion? So far I can think of a few things that will need to be changed: flywheel, bellhousing, motor mounts, ignition, fuel pressure (can't decide if I want to inject it or keep the carb), and ECU programming to control the transmission. Have I missed anything? Has anyone done this before??

I would think an adapter plate would be needed as well for the motor\trans connection.

Seriously....If you're here asking those questions, you're in FAR over your head.
It CAN be done.
It WILL be terribly expensive.
It WILL be terribly time consuming.
It WILL require serious fabrication.
For what you will spend trying to cram that dinosaur in your truck, you can buy at least TWO complete 5.4L engines, and pay someone to do all of the work swapping it out.

I think Johnny is right on all counts......
Of course, I for one would like to see you try. My ex boss used to share a house with a guy who loved to do stuff like that. The crazier it sounded the more he wanted to try to do it and he was good.

Lately, I've been dreaming about an off-road Flex. I like the look of them(not all colors) and I think that could only be improved with big *** tires and of course Four wheel drive.

Anyone good with photoshop???

...back to earth

The 390 block is smaller than the 5.4L.

I helped cram a 460 into a Fairmont... I would think this would be a bit easier.

Biggest difference being we used an engine/tranny/differential combo.
