My Truck got Hit tonight.....argh!!!

I was working on my computer in my apartment and heard a huge crash outside. I went out to find that a guy fell asleep and hit my 66 F100. He started at the left rear corner and went all the way too the front. Will post pics in the morning. Fortunately the driver of the car is ok. Can anybody recommend a decent body shop in West LA or Santa Monica who is good with old trucks?

Thanks.
Randy

MARTIN AUTO BODY in Venice. Manuel is the owner, has a huge collection of 1950/60's Fords. Did all the bodywork & paint on a rust bucket 1957 Ranchero I owned back in the late 1970's.

I traded him my 1959 Galaxie ragtop for the Ranchero work, he still has it.

Manuel repainted and did the necessary bodywork on my (now former) 1968 Galaxie XL fastback recently. The car was Wimbledon White, Manuel stripped it to the bone, repainted it Springtime Yellow.

There wasn't a hint except on the Warranty Plate color code that the XL was ever white when he got thru with it.

Manuel has health issues, tends to take his time. So if in a hurry, take it somewhere else...where, I haven't a clue.

btw: I know where there are some nice rust free used doors, possibly a left front fender. P/M or email me for the info. Do it soon, cuz it's Aloha time again.

Sorry to hear about your truck Randy. But, thats why we all carry insurance...

this is why an agreed value insurance policy is so important.

eh, you're a nicer person than I. Nobody forced him to drive and fall asleep. More importantly, did he have insurance?

My luck would be that I wouldn't be home and some nimrod plow into my park truck and leave. Or since I only carry liablity ( Uninsurance) coverages; and they would not have insurance and my policy would have some quirk in it that doesn't cover the damages.
Only carried full coverage on my old 65 model due to amount invested in it.
Hope you get everything solved and repaired!

Tennessee has an "Uninsured Motorist" option in most insurance plans for a couple hundred extra a year....well worth it.

Sorry to hear about your truck. Similar thing happened to me a few years back...uninsured motorist coverage saved my, uh, Ford.

Thanks for the responses. The guy has insurance. His insurance company is going to pick up the truck in the morning and haul it to their lot for assessment. The guy couldn't just drive away because his car was immobilized. After hitting my truck he bounced up over the curb and drove down the sidewalk for a ways. His door was ripped off and laying behind my truck and his right front wheel was folded under his car. I have no idea how he hit the corner of my bed so hard then barely skimmed the quarter panel, door, then hit the rim hard, caught the front bumper and folded it up. I'm not sure if the frame is tweaked or not. The bed is definitely pushed closer to the cab on the driver's side now. The tailgate is tweaked and won't open. His insurance co. got me a rental car today until we get things sorted out. What a PITA!!!!

Damage isn't to bad. Body shop should be able to fix that. But I would be keeping an eye on them so as to use more steel and less filler. Man I would cry if that happens to me. I wish the best for ya Bud. Don't let em pimp ya. Make em do it right.

Definately get the frame checked by a couple of good body shops. Is your frame boxed anywhere? If so look close at those areas imediately before and after boxed area. Don't settle for less they need to make you whole.

Sorry to hear bout that.I'm glad the driver was insured.Uninsured motorist is a must here. Everyone here has had it happen to them or know of someone it's happened to.Illegals with no license and /or insurance. When you get hit nothing ever happens to them so you're stuck with fixing things yourself. That's why i'm gonna have a complete truck(in parts) waiting in the wings.Good luck and hope all turns out well.
