Swap 6.0 for 6.4 PSD????

I have a messed up 6.0 PSD 2005 and am torn between replacing it with a 6.4 PSD. I have with everything but the computer.

I know nothing except that it can be done. Any wisdom, advice, warning or help is appreciated. I am not likely to do this job myself, but know if I have to I can.

Who in DFW area would you let tackle this chore?

Thanks.

1. Don't

If you insist on doing it, refer to (1).

A wiring nightmare, I would fix the 6.0L and trade up...just my opinion.

Not just wiring --- virtually every harness is different, plus different rad, etc.

Plus going from a plentiful 6.0 engine / parts supply to a very scarce / expensive 6.4 supply chain for an orphan engine.

Plus 6.4 will require a DPF...

Plus....

If you are going to that much trouble... might as well re-engine with a 6.7 or a Cummins!

Guys thanks I am duly moving on..thanks to Mark I will fix this truck and get rid of it as fast as possible. I could be flying every by helicopter for what this thing is costing me in the last 6 months. Thats with me doing 90% of the work minus the EGR cooler job due to being on a trip out of town.

ya I would not touch a 6.4. they run great. they break great too. You think a 6.0 is expensive?
if you trade up I would still suggest not trading up to a 6.4.

I couldn't agree more. I got one sitting in my bay now that came in on the hook last Friday, after the engine ran away on the owner and shot flames out the tailpipe. This puppy got so hot that the underbody where the DOC/DPF is situated got burned up pretty good. The wiring harness that goes to all three EGT sensors as well as the DPFP sensor is literally burnt to a crisp. We are looking at a HUGE and I mean HUGE repair to fix this one.
