Oem Oil filter houseing cap?

So before I got "educated" about the 6.0 and the need to stay with OEM/motorcraft products I was buying NAPA brand Oil filters. The NAPA filter came with a new oil cap, o-ring as well as the filter. Of course not knowing I tossed the OEM filter cap in the garbage and its long since gone. Am I going to run into any problems with the NAPA cap? I thought a new OEM cap was around $50 or better and right now without steady income its an expense that I cant afford. However if its going to affect the longevity of the truck I will find some money for the replacement. Thanks again.

Sorry that money is tight, but I think the only honest advice is that you need to get an OEM filter back in your truck. To save money, try PartsGuyEd for a good price on the cap, and try dieselfiltersonline.com for a good price on the filter element. The Racor version is a little less money that the Motorcraft version, and is the exact same thing. Racor is the manufacturer.

Do NOT use the Napa cap with the OEM filter element.

Times 2 what Bill said. Use only OEM filters on the 6.0. What seems expensive now could very well be dirt cheap in the long run.

There should be no reason you need to spend $50+ on a oil filter cap...

Ford reduced the MSRP on the filter cap to $34.20 since so many were loosing theirs one way or another, so if a dealer is being "fair" it should not be anymore then that. Ford part number 3C3Z-6766-CA or Motorcraft part number EC-781.

If you have a International truck dealer near by, you can get a OEM filter cap from there as well. If pricing is close to what it used to be, you can likely pick one up there for $15 - $20. Part number 1840754C91.
