dump bed on 2003 550

At work we have a 2003 550 with the 6.0 . currently it has a hydraulic dump bed on it driven by an electric motor. we keep burning up the motors and want to convert it to an engine driven hydraulic system. The hydraulics that are on it currently are made by monarch hydraulics. I was looking at a kit made by deweze which would put a hydraulic pump on the motor. anyone have any experiance with this to see ithe compadability and such?

Is your truck equipped with a PTO option?

I do not think so. how would I know? unfortunately I didn t work for the company when they bought this. I would of never wasted money on an electronic hydraulic pump.

I agree, I don't like electric over hydraulic either, but it is cheaper to install.

If your truck isn't made for a PTO on the trans then you have to do like you described. It's called a clutch pump. Sometimes you need a different crank pulley that has a groove for another belt to drive the clutch pump.

I'm not real familar with them but I don't see why not. I know many people that use clutch pumps especially with the 7.3L PSD and the auto trans to run their central hydraulics for plowing, salt spreader and dump body.
