recommend a mechanic owasso/tulsa

Time to replace the timing belt in my wife's 04 Toyota Sequoia.
Dealer wants a ton of money, of course.
Wondered if you guys could give recommendations on any good mechanics in the area?

Faber,

Just saw this today. I found Mike at Pinnacle Automotive to be fair and does great work. They replaced the A/C compressor for me in my Sable. They also fixed the low coolant light for me. (didn't even ask for that to be done). I think that the coolant reasvoir had to be taken out to get the compressor out. They also gave me a good honest inspection on it when my youngest son took the Sable to Texas with him.

Pinnacle is located where Kens Kar Care was. In the parking lot by Fishbones.

The people at Quality Auto and Tire on 86th replaced the timing belt for me when I bought the Ranger a couple years ago. They also seemed fair and honest.

I have used RC Auto specialist in Tulsa and have had a good experience both times. They replaced the ball joints and a list of other stuff I had on my 97 F350 Their prices were about half of what Ford wanted and they did the work quickly. They are on 51st and 169 in Tulsa.

While I haven't used this place, Mingo Automotive at the corner of Mingo and pine is on AAA's page of approved repair shops. They are next door to Batman's on Miingo.

Faber,
If you don't mind, will you let us know which one you picked and tell us how you were treated? After you've had the work done.

Thanks,

hiya faber, did you ever take the vehicle to get serviced?

Looks like i'll be takin my '78 F150 somewhere local soon. There's a loud metallic ticking sound on the passenger side of the engine. I pulled the valve cover off this morning and did not see any bent pushrods. The rods rotated smoothly with my fingers, except the farthest back one. I could not get it to turn. Odd. So i cranked the engine over a few times; each time trying to see if the rod would turn but it did not. So with the cover off i ran the engine for a few seconds. All action seemed normal and the oil feed worked great; as witnessed by the mess on my passenger side fender well and driveway. lol. I just dont have time to work on it as much as i used to. That's why i'm tempted to take it to a reputable Owasso auto repair place.

sigh... my baby is runnin on 6 of the 8 cylinders. I took it to Pinnacle Automotive in Owasso for a diagnostic check. The loud knocking/clanging on the passenger side of the engine may be broken springs or burnt valves on cylinder 1 and 3. Ugh. At least the diagnostic service wasnt too expensive. They charge $75/hr but only charged me $37 for them to tune the carb and timing and to diagnose the clanging sound. I dont have the time or patience to do the work myself so i guess i'll take it up there on Wednesday to have them get my baby running right again. (I took the whole top end apart last year to replace the head gaskets and such. I don't want to do it again. I just dont have the time.) The internet reviews on Pinnacle seem good so far. And they have a stable of older carbed classics they are working on, so they probably know what they are doing. The mechanic-Mike, gave me the details on what might be wrong and i did not get the impression that he was trying to snowball or bamboozle me. I just hope it doesn't end up costing an arm and a leg.

Ron,

I found Pinnacle Automotive to be honest and fair. When Steve took my Sable to Texas they did a thorough inspection, plugged a tire and replaced a wheel cylinder for me. Did some work on my Thunderbird and my other son's truck.

I drove by their place the other day and though they closed up shop. I then saw that they moved to their own building across the street. I'm going to take the Thunderbird there in the spring, as I just can't get my carb tuned in right.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. It's good to hear positive news on them. I am always so leary of having other people work on my vehicles. But this time i have to swallow my pride and get ready to pay someone else to fix it. Can't wait to get my baby back on the road.
