End of FMC??

Man...I just came across some very depressing news on yahoo a min ago. They were talking about the big three eventually being bought out or merging with major European companys. That sucks! Here's the link if you want to check it out. Might be worth reading.

http://msnbc.com/news/613068.asp?cp1=1

P.S. If the link doesn't work for whatever reason just to go Yahoo.com and check out the news section.

well this is another way that the librial's are targeting us.if you look at the other countrys in the world. we the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA have the biggest and the best and most confortable and not to mention the best lookin automobiles in the world.the democracy's that control the other people and industries in the other counties have every thing to do with this.if you look at the U.S. now it is leaning that way and falling very fast to communisum.but this is what we keep voting for as a whole in this country.its sad to think that it is happening. but just look around.i myself dont believe taht artical is true.we invented the auto and all the things taht are great in this world.look at chrysler they about lost there butts and the government jumped in and bailed them out.so i dont think we will loss the big three that easy.but on the other hand we are the last country to give up our freedoms so it will be takin from us soon.and will all be driving yugo sized cars and trucks.unless we stop voting fer the democrats that want to take you rights and libertys and guns from us all.to fall into the NEW WORLD ORDER!!!!!!!!

LOL---dude...I'm only 22 years old. I sure as hell can't afford a new truck. I traded my 94 Ranger for the 78 I have now. I went backwards instead of forwards Besides...I don't like some of the newer trucks and SUV's now anyways.

Since Ford already owns (or has controlling interest) in Land rover, Jag, and many other overseas automakers and builds more cars overseas than in the US, it probably doesnt matter. Also, i'm sure if you got a hold of a list of Ford's largest shareholders you would see alot of foreign interest.

the major heavy truck makers are already foreign owned:

Mack - French
Freightliner - German
White/GMC - Sweden

I guess the way of the world

If Ford gets bought out by a foreign company and starts making cruddy foreign-type cars, it will be a great boost to the old Ford restoration market. All us die hard Ford truck enthusiasts would rather buy or restore an old Ford truck than drive some of the recent junk that is put on the road. But if you think a foreign Ford buyout is bad news, did you know the socialists (read most Democrats and environmentalists) want you to permanently park your cars and trucks and take their train. And they are lobbying for lots of our hard earned money from Uncle Sam to build them with. Problem is government planners can talk all day about the benefits of everybody taking the train to work, but most people prefer to drive their own vehicle. Federal government already is paying bus fare to folks in Detroit to get them on mass transit (bet this baby was fathered by Al Gore).

Clarification: The federally subsidized bus riders are federal employees, not the general public.

It's funny you mention the "New World Order" or Aluminati as it's refered to. This is actually a conspiracy theory, that involves several 'secret societies' around the world. One being at Yale, and guess what Bush was a member as was his father, It's the Skull and Bones society. The only thing is he's Republican, they think he wants control over the oil trade, not to demolish our car companies. There's also the Coalition for Foreign Affairs or something like that. Then there's another one. Once a year this 'other' one holds a meating at a different place. They have snipers and guards all around whatever resort it is and they have secret meetings. All of the top press representatives such as Peter Jennings are invited and Bill Clinton has also been present. It is believed the Media is invited to write good about whatever is proposed. This way rather than someone leaking information and something be shot down, they can bribe these people into writing good about it and passing whatever it is into law. It's scary really because a lot of suspected proposals have made it into reality......... I don't know a whole lot on the subject but there was a show on the History channel about it and I also visited some web sites to try and find out more. I usually fall in line with Republican sentements but something is scary about all this to me. Although, i think Bush is doing a good job.

Trains, what a joke. If they built the damn things where people have an interest in going then maybe people would ride them. They built (are still building) a light rail train system here in San Jose, Ca. The plan is to build high density housing next to the rail so people won't have to go too far to catch the train. Great idea if you like living 6 inches from your neighbor and don't mind a train rolling through you back yard every 20 minutes. I guess the city planners figured they couldn't bring the train to the people, so bring the people to the train. Social engineering? Oh, and it made too much sense to make the train go to the airport, so they dropped that idea. Now were gonna spend billions extending BART to San Jose. Will it ever end?

I guess I could take the bus to work. It would only take me 90+ minutes and 3 transfer (no joke, I checked into doing this). Or I could ride my mountain bike, that only takes 50 minutes. Hey, I know, I'll drive my truck. Only takes 25 minutes and that includes the stop for a cup of coffee.

All of this boils down to; we need a population cap. Only so many people can live in this world. I am sure that the religious folks here will heavily criticize me, but this is just my 2 cents.

From a Civil Engineer's perspective, I can promise you that 100% of the politicians that support mass rail systems are all excessively liberal. All you Palmetto state guys (South Carolina) will hardly be shocked by the fact that Senator James Clyburn has proposed many times to "do away with the automobile, and have a rapid moving society built on rails". What a joke, he actually came to The Citadel and spoke to the whole Corps of Cadets on this idea. Although we show courtesy and respect to all the diplomats who come on campus, let's just say that the conservative SCCC didn't give him the warmest applause afterwards.

This is a Democratic Party theme, Al Gore openly stated that his goal was "the total abolishment of the internal combustion engine". Over my dead body.

GM won't go under, they havn't abandoned their hardcore enthusaists, and they continue to develop the pushrod V8 engine in many new and exciting platforms, in spite of a hostile EPA breathing down their neck. Chrysler already has gone under (anyone who's driven one lately will attest to this), and Ford is next, their stock is trash and they have no hope of a ressurection with that bozo CEO they have.

I love what Paul said about Ford going under helping the restoration market. I love seeing old AMC's, the guys that drive them definately take pride in doing something differnt. We're likely to be in the same boat in a few years.

This post needs a major clarification.

Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star - Germany
Peterbilt, Kenworth - USA
Volvo, Mack - Sweden
International - USA

White/GMC hasn't existed since 1997

Mack/Renault was bought by Volvo in December 2000 after Volvo sold the car division to Ford.

Anyway, it's a fact of life. We now live in a global economy.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Oct-02 AT 12:07 PM (EST)]"...a rapid moving society..." huh? If those politicians think I'm riding anything that's built and "managed" like Amtrak they better think again....

yes i do think society should put a "cap" on human reproduction. how long will it be before people are running out of food and living space? sure its a free country, well, except for the taxes and the fact that you CANT do ANYTHING you want.

china already has a 2 --->? i think its 2 children per family rule. why should anyone be allowed to have a family of 15 children nowdays? four lane interestates/highways are at dead stops at 630 in the morning here. tell me we arent already over populated??
for centuries man has fought and killed for land.... and we are running short on it now.

minnesota is in a HUGE budget deficite, and alot of it can be contributed to our highly UNNECCISARY light rail system they started to build here. i dont know a single person who would even ride it if it took them where they were planning on going. theyd rather drive their own vehicles. i think our deficit is either $300 million or 3 billion, anyways its more thna ill ever be worth.
