Prepping for paint: How do I remove the side decals?

I am preparing my 1990 F250 ext. cab for paint, and I am not too sure how to remove my side "F250" emblems. Can anyone help me out here?

I did some searching on the forums here and couldn't seem to find exactly how they are attached. Are they glued on AND attached with 2 little stems going through the fender?

My truck has that awful peely grey color, and it is loong overdue for a good paint job.

I am also going to have to remove the pinstripe, and it appears that the 3M pinstripe removal wheel is the way to go for this one . . . but if anyone has a better method, I'm completely open to any ideas.

Thanks all!

-Joe

i removed all the door trim and emblems on my '91 when i painted it in '07

the door trim is held on with 2 sided tape, so are the emblems...they do have 2 alignment pins which leave holes in your fender but they do not hold them on. i welded the holes for emblems up i thought it looked much cleaner.

best way to remove? pull on them if you dont care to save them. if you do use fishing line to cut the tape. the eraser wheels for the stickers works well on the 2sided tape also.

goodluck! post pics!

Cool . . . thanks!

I do want to save my emblems to put them back on . . . so I guess I'll try the dental floss technique. What sort of product would I use to stick them back on?

This project is probably going to take a while, but I'm planning on taking some good before and after pictures.

3-M has the adhesive you need to re-apply them.
