That's definitely a rare combination for a half ton. The long flareside box is the same box used on the 3/4 tons, wider and taller than the short flareside. That contributes to the graceful look
There were many different styles of bumpers supplied to Ford dealers. The one that came with a short flareside I had years ago was made of checkerplate and was designed with extensions that wrapped around to meet the fenders. I'll try to find a pic. Looks like yours had a similar style. You're not tied to that style though; you could just use a flat straight one like the short flaresides had and you can buy them new.

It runs threw the trans oil pan and connects too the engine block on the other side , I think they only had this system for 2 years...

67 F100 Longbed Flareside Question
I' m in the process of restoring a 68 F100 Longbed Flareside myself. Looking at the picture of the rear of your truck at the bottom of the rear cross sill there are two knots on the bottom edge. One on each end about 12 inches in from both ends. That's where the rear bumper brackets come out from the ends of the frame. My truck rear cross sill looks the same and had a standard bumper painted to match the truck. My truck is the same color as yours. The only different I see is your grille is chrome and mine is painted. LMC Trucks carries a chrome or primer painted standard bumper for your truck along with all the hardware you would need to install it. The bumper and all the hardware will run around $300 to $350. If you go chrome add about $50 more. LMC Trucks website is Truck Parts and Truck Accessories for Chevy, GMC, Ford and Dodge Trucks from LMCTruck.com Toll Free 1-800-562-8782. Good luck with your truck.

Rear bumpers were an option on all Ford trucks thru 1979. Many trucks of this vintage had aftermarket rear bumpers.
1948/72: Ford offered exactly one Flareside rear bumper: BBAA17906A .. Painted Steel "Channel" Bumper which used four brackets to mount it.
This same bumper was also available on 1973/77 F250 4WD (HighBoy) Flaresides and on myriad 1932/47 trucks as well.
There was no chrome Flareside rear bumper available from Ford. If you find one, it's either a painted bumper that someone chromed, is an aftermarket rear bumper, or a reproduction...which as noted, is available painted or chrome.
There were four 1967/72 Styleside factory rear bumpers: Painted or chrome "contoured" rear bumper / Painted or chrome step bumper, which did not wrap around the quarter panels.
The rear bumper described in post #2 was aftermarket.
18,307 1967 F100 2WD Flareside pickups were assembled, This figure includes both short and long beds
You can find out the total number of 1967 F100 long bed Flaresides by contacting martiauto.com who has ALL the FoMoCo records that pertain to 1967/79 FoMoCo vehicles.
Also available from Marti is a copy of your truck's exact window sticker, build sheet and etc. There is a fee for these services which is known in the hobby as a Marti Report.
In the late 1980's, Ford was going to THROW AWAY all the records that pertained to 1967/79 FoMoCo vehicles (Ford L/M Passenger Cars // Ford [& 1967/68 Mercury] Trucks // Bronco's/Econolines).
Kevin Marti, a Mustang "nut" from Phoenix AZ found out about Ford's plans and got ALL of it.
You can contact FoMoCo and request build sheet info for your truck...it's free, but it takes weeks, as FoMoCo has to get the info from Marti.

In 1973 Ford increased the rear frame rail width from 33 1/2" to 37 1/2" on many 1973 (1973/79) F100/350's.
1973/79 F100 2WD/4WD / 1973/79 F250 2WD / 1975/79 F150 2WD/4WD / 1978/79 F250 4WD have the 37 1/2" rear frame rails, use different rear bumpers and brackets.
The reason 1973/77 F250 4WD's (commonly refered to as High Boys) use the 1948/72 bumper is...these trucks have the 33 1/2" rear frame rails...that all 1972 and earlier trucks had.

If you go to my gallery - 1969 Ford F100 4x4 - As she was - you will see pre-restoration photos with the original rear bumper. I also have a few post-restoration shots with a new chrome small bumper. The new one is not correct but looks much better.
