Max. Trailer Tow Package (req. for towing over 5000 lbs.)
Includes:
Class IV trailer hitch receiver;
7-pin wiring harness;
upgraded radiator;
auxiliary transmission oil cooler;
upgraded rear bumper;

upgraded rear springs;
heavy- duty front eye bushing;and
20:1 steering gear ratio

Are the other upgrades i) std across the board, ii) assumed to be included? iii) other?

From what I have read and can figure out you get the bigger bumper, bigger rear springs, the front eye bushing and different steering ratio. I don't need nany of that stuff especially the springs as I am going to put Firestone airbags on mine.

So as far as I am concerned, if I decide to get a 5.0, I will get the tow package, a 3.73 rear end and my Firestone air bags so I will have my own max tow package. Oh yeah and a $70 Prodigy brake controller or pony up and pay Ford's price for theirs. I am keeping this setup as my "backup plan" in case the Ecoboost doesn't suit me. Since the 5.0 has higher hp/torque than the 5.4 it should tow just as well or better than the 5.4. Since Ford is offering the 5.0 with the 3.73 option then it should tow heavy loads just fine
I am still banking on the ecoboost, just want to know what it costs, expected life, etc. I hope to find out more next week at the pickuptrucks.com bbq

So, let me get this straight.

I won't be able to get a Lariat Crew Cab with a 6.5 foot box, max tow package, unless I get some pu$$yfooting rice-burner type turbo-fart V6 headgasket eating 3.5 liter?

Whatever happened to big V8s, a big truck bed, and some serious towing?

Bah...friggin rice-eaters have taken over Ford.

I agree totally, Powerdude!! I will not trade until I can get the 6.2L with 6.5'bed to haul my 5th wheel.

Nothing happened to big V-8's and serious towing, it's called Super Duty.

Think about it, CAFE standards must be met. How do you meet them, you create the upsell into Super Duty because those vehicles do not get included in the CAFE calculations.

As for your closed-minded uninformed commentary on rice-burner motors, may I recommend you return to your NASCAR viewing.

Guess you better get in line for the Super Duty.

I plan on ordering with the 5.0 engine - just don't think a V6 will cut it in a F150.

My question is why do people fight new tech items? If it can do the job better, more effiiciantly and basically outperform the "old school" way of thinking then what is really the problem. Personally if I end up with a f150 in the next year or 2 then guess what I will happily embrace the ecoboost. it is one of the best new products out there IMHO.

It'll come. I will just have to wait for it. It doesn't make sense to offer the 6.2 in the screw 145" WB and not the 157" wb

Because this engine and its longevity will need to be proven in a working truck

The 6.2L is a big heavy engine. The F150 is a big heavy truck. Maybe Ford didn't like the payload figures of the heaviest engine in the heaviest configured truck.

You guys have to remember that CAFE standards are going to make Ford limit their offering of the 6.2L in the F150. If anything, the 6.2L will be phased out of the half ton line up.

Because most everyone here remembers the days of the old turbo gas motors in the Buick and T-bird. They had issues. These engines will just have to prove themselves to make believers out of most of us.

I for one hope the 3.5L EB kicks butt and takes names. I want it to succeed, but I'm not going to be the first to prove or disprove it. I work too damned hard for my money to risk it like that.

I'm interested in preferably the 5.0 or the 6.2 in a 2011 F-150. I've read in this column guys refering to the order guide. My local dealer has one but I'd like to see it and ponder the options on my own. Is it available on line? The Ford site still shows 2010 model year specs.

Your a wise man tseekins...I wouldn't touch a 3.5 EB in a truck capacity until it is well proven.
