Shock help

I have an 01 f250, the rear shocks (the top nut) is so rusted I will probably have to cut it off, I wouldn't have a problem but the bolt is a stud on a brackett, What do I do then replace the entire brackett. Anyone else run into this and have a different solution???

On my '08 the stud is part of the bracket. To replace it the rivets need to be removed and a new bracket bolted on.

I've cut nuts off and saved the bolt both with a torch and hammer and chisel, but the position of that one would make it very difficult. Maybe a nut splitter would get the job done.

Soak it, soak it, soak it with penetrating oil (NOT WD40!!!!). Heat it up with a torch a little bit. Rock it back and forth. I bet it comes loose.

bump.. broken shock stud

searched to find out if the rear shock studs are replaceable as one of mine is broken.

where would one get one of these?

the truck is 2 hours away, so I cannot see it first hand, but I seem to remember it was a stud through a plate and would need to be drilled out? or the bracket rivets drilled out and a new plate/stud combo bolted in again or is it better to have welded in again?

thanks
