Welcome to FTE. What percent Bio are you running? By default, biodiesel has less BTU's per gallon than regular #2 diesel, so you're going to end up with slightly less miles per gallon. When you drop below B20, the effects tend to be minimal with regards to MPG drop. The bio is an excellent lubricity additive for your fuel injectors though. It's also a solvent and will clean up any junk in your tank and lines (read: make your filter dirty sooner the first time or two).
Since ULSD is also somewhat a solvent, I wouldn't worry too much about plugging a filter.
