Alternative way to install Jag IFS

Hi guys out there who are intending to install a Jag IFS here is a alternative method to install the Jag IFS. For those who have welding expertise this method is quite simple. The Jag cross member is lengthen 75mm to fit under the chassis rail. Though another donar rack and pinion needs to be sourced. The shock towers will pretruded through the inner guards so they need to be modified also. I have included some pic on how it was done. Cheers all.

What model and year of jag ifs are you using? are you using the jag irs as well? the reason I ask, is I have a 74 jag 4door that I am getting ready to scrap out (saving suspension parts). May try to use in a later Ford project. would love to see more pics as you go along. Thanks Dennis

This Jag installation was not done on my truck. My pickup has a 86 V12 IFS installed in it. 70's model Jag fronts are ok to install, though the 80's series three IFS are better and stronger units.

also you don`t really have to modify the shock towers, i chose to because the p.o had already cut them a fair amount, i also wasn`t worried about keeping it looking original & i`m hoping the longer shocks will give a better (softer) ride.
ps if see this aussie53 (paul) i haven`t enough posts to contact you.

Craig when you get your effie home I'll bring the 53 up for a run and we can have gas bag about our trucks. Do you need any stainless steel bed strips.

Craig, if you are comtemplating keeping the stock front bumper bar, using a 15" rim and a 60 series tyre and way your Jag IFS is set there dosen't leave room for ground clearance. With my set up there is only 170mm gap between the bottom of the bumper and the ground. Not very good when you have to travel over speed humps and if your driveway is on a upward slope.

This looks like an alternative for the F-100's but the xj IFS practically falls under the Bonus Built trucks since the frame in the front is 2 inches narrower than the F-100's. I only mention it for newcomers reading this thread.

Craig I just notice that Jason put a right hand drive steering rack in, I thought you were keeping your truck LHD.

Usually we cut off those ears that stick forward. Those frame brackets you made. We don't have to up here in the states. I've seen those cut off then a steel mount welded to the cradle that bolts to the truck frame. If you make that steel bracket 18 to 24 inches long it stabilizes the cradle so you don't need those other brackets... you've done what is called a "soft mount" that will keep your truck up an inch or so higher than what I've explained
Nice install though.
