The bearing seal does not ride against the dust shield, but on a "step" on the spindle. The back side of the seal should not rub against anything. The lip will ride on the spindle.

Sorry to bring up another old thread:
Does anyone have the Part Numbers for the 4x2 dust shields?

I found part numbers for the 4x4:
F4TZ2K004B RH 4X4
F4TZ2K005B LH 4X4
