I used the paste, but I can't imagine the tape would be a problem. I did tighten them goood.

Especially with your TT upgrade. 1-A Auto is the best source unless you can wait for some jamoke to list a set of OEM for a couple hundred.

I've used the tape without issues. That's what's on my external trans filter housing barb fittings too.

I dont feel that they would block a passage in a block or head. Those are some large areas in the casting. Doubt theres any passages small enough.
Funny, I replaced head gaskets on my 1997 Chevy Tahoe three times in 197k miles, and cats twice, radiator, trans, a/c condensor, and rear diff.
So far my Ex w/6L at 144k miles has been way cheaper even including all my upgrades.

I finished the installation of the new hitch receiver today. It's a very nice unit, fit and finish is excellent. Very stout, much thicker than OEM. I'll do an install thread shortly, pretty straight forward job.

I found a set of axles on CL with 4.30's asking $600....man that is SO tempting!

I really need to detail up my Ex it's filthy inside and out. Also need to think about getting my snow tires swapped out to the nicer stock wheels, as the current ones have clear coat flaking off and corrosion causing them to leak. Hard to think about winter when it was 77F yesterday and 73F today but it's coming sooner, rather then later!

That thing looks pretty solid Eric!
Looking forward to your install thread, I'll use it as a step by step when I mount mine. I'm interested in what you did with the 7 pin plug mount there, I'm think of moving mine up into the rear bumper when I redo the hitch and bumper.

Tom, you should stop by and do the install here in conjunction with a visit to THE university. Using a lift made it much easier to wrestle the gas tank.

Torklift should have set it up to install the factory plug bracket the same way it is on the original. I didn't want to drill a hole in the new receiver, and didn't really like the universal bracket they supplied. Used the factory part and turned it 90 degrees and used one of the side bolts to attach it. I may fabricate some kind of other bracket to get it back in the factory position.
