I love old school Nelly!!

Left my Ex at work today, driving our 2013 F150 EcoBoost as we have a trade show tomorrow. Washed it all up so it should shine like a diamond in the sun. After driving the EcoBoost tonight i can 100% say this would not be the engine for me.

Why not? Never driven one myself, just wondering since it seems to get good reviews.

Its personal preference, i'm sure its a great engine.

A vacuum sounds meaner
MPG is ho-hum (17.3 mpg avg, mostly highway in our truck w/12k on it)
I don't like the Power band or turbo lag, granted it pulls well down low, sure feels like its lacking in top end to me...

I'm more then excited to get my hands on my 6.2 F-150 (waiting for the new Lincoln to come in next week..but now he wants to decide between it and another coming in 2-3 weeks later! ugh!) I've driven all 4 engines (3.7 V6, 3.5 V6, 5.0V8, 6.2V8) and i know i'm making the right choice for me

What kind of mileage does the 6.2l get in the f150? Seems that 17.3 would be awesome in a truck with towing power and plenty of capability for mods with the aftermarket support.

Its funny you say that. I was just commenting (bitching) about all the sliencers and "intake volume" they are putting in my way lately. They make the engines silent then put turbos on it and complain about air noise. Sorry but if I buy a truck with turbos on it, part of the fun is hearing it.

On the mileage, yeah, anything we build with a turbo is a gas hog. But if you want pulling/hauling power with todays V6 garbage, you need the turbos.

I agree and the Director of Field Service for the last company I worked for agrees too.

I rented a 2013 F150 when I power washed my engine and though I fried my PCM. It was the 5.0 V8 and let me tell you, the truck has *****! "I can't imagine needing a tuner for it" kind of *****. It averaged 16-18 mpg and I power was never a problem. I even towed home a buddy's 2007 F350 when the dummy plugs failed and handled the load well.

The Director of Field service bought an Ecoboost since he wrecked his 2002 King Ranch F150. It got good mileage, but as it's been said: "there's no replacement for displacement". So he went upside down in his loan and got himself a 2013 5.0 V8 F150 and is much happier.

Let there be light.

Here are a few mods I did on my X. I stared with a burned out hood light. I wanted to be able see my engine at night if anything goes wrong. I went with an LED strip light I have a push button mounted on the Steering fluid reservoir. The 3m tape on the strip was not holding so I put on my own clips to keep it in place. I plan on putting the same LED strip lighting on the back hatch to help unload in the dark. Also see couple of other little mods. Let me know what you think.

I can now see.

Let there be light.

I love it. Is this to protect the paint?

Yes, more so the bumper and barn doors and for the reason you referenced.

I love the light under the hood. There is little so frustrating as not being able to see especially when the light is on. Looks awesome. I may steal your idea and tell my wife it is my idea

Now they asked to use it to go to the beach. Of course we said yes but it has me thinking about the guy with a truck has many friends who need it when they need to move. Well it is for good work but this weekend we are heading to the campground. Finally we get out again.

Replaced front Wiper Motor

My wipers started to bog down and make noise. Removed cowl, linkage and changed out the motor. Good to go for another 100,000 miles.

I have thought about using some LED strips for underhood lighting, but what stopped me was the heat produced and will it just melt the adhesive off. So im curious to see how yours hold up

I thought you were going to say " but what stopped me was the truck doesn't run" or " I really don't want to see what's going on in there".
