Tailgate chain 1951 F1

Hi everyone, I just bought a tailgate chain from NPD and I understand how it mounts to the but but what I do not understand is how it will keep the tailgate closed. Help please:<(

I started to try to describe it to you in words. But I just did a quick google search of images and found this one. Bottom line, that big oval loop at the beginning of the chain loops over the eye in the tailgate itself and the hook on the end of the chain goes through the eye itself.

I understand now.
The tailgate must be very loud when you go over bumps?

No, if everything is right, it's all a tight fit with that hook. I'm pretty new myself, but welcome to the forum. You probably know this, but remember to put some sort of protector on that chain after you paint the tailgate to keep it from getting scratched.

Yeah, you're not going to sneak up on too many people driving one of these old trucks. lol

Get a piece of clear tubing at your local homer depot , slide it over the chain before attaching it to the truck and drill a smal hole in the bottom of the tubing to let the water out .
