tranny ?

I have a 52 F1 with a stuck 6cyl. I have a 302 ready to go and also have a 292 out of my uncles 56 f100. for practicality I'm thinking 302 for cool factor I'm thinking 292. I want a four speed in the truck and I have a t10 and a t19 out of a 84 ford pickup. Which one would be my best combo?

Is the T10 a Ford or a chivvy bolt pattern?

Howdy,

I had a Y-block with a T-98 4 speed trans in mine.

The T-98 is basically the same as a T-18/19 and is probably one of the best supported transmissions ever made.

For cool factor I would do the 292. (It'll sound MUCH cooler than a 302!!)

Cheers,

Rick

I have the 302 with a 3 speed on the tree. It came with the truck. But, I have been toying with the idea of putting a period correct 289 back in it, if I can locate one in my price range! Its a long term goal like many of our projects! LOL. Go with the 289 and build it to be like the 302!

By "period correct" you're obviously not talking about the truck in your Avatar pic right?

Any Ideas what it takes to mate the 292 to the t19? Also is there a factory motor mount for the 292 in my 52? I hear the 292 had some oiling issues to the top, any truth to this if so do you have any remedies?

I don't know if you can get a bell housing to bolt a 292/272 to a T-19.

But since the T98 is essentially "the same" as a T-19 you might need to find one (a T98 that is)

Someone else will have to jump in here and verify this but I think the T-19 has different bolt pattern to work with MUCH newer bell housing/clutches etc...

PM me if you're interested in mine. I have a good T-98 (with integral parking brake)/bell housing, resurfaced flywheel, new clutch , pressure plate, throwout/pilot bearings etc.....

Cheers,

Rick

The Ford pattern (tall narrow) T10 was used in the early T-Birds sow it should bolt up to the 292 bellhousing - unless you're planning on a 400+ HP Y-Block the T10 will hold up fine - The gearing should be a little more frendly then the T19
