Had code 1518 on mine. Found that the nylon busching had come off of the linkage rod that runs between the module and the front bank butterfly valve. Looks like an old fashioned carb linkage.
It Cost less than $4 for a pack of the buschings and less than 10 minutes to fix (once the engine cooled down).

2 of the 4 bushings and portions of both linkage rods can be seen. However, getting to them with your hands (unless you have tentacles instead) is quite difficult.

Glad you posted the picture. It was sort of a bear to get to. I used needle nosed pliers. Since the original post, I've had to do the same repair on my wife's 2001 Windstar 3.8L. It, too, was a bear to get to but really an easy fix. I used the buschings that were from the same pack that I bought for the truck.
