aftermarket satellite radio?
Hey guys,
here is my question, well actually I have tons but we will start here. I have a 2005 Expedition that I have attempted to install a satellite radio into. In a moment of genius, I actually checked to find the hook ups in the stock radio, before actually purchasing the wiring set need to install the radio. It was at this time, that I noticed that there wasn't any aux jacks on the back of the stock radio. Where does the aux hookups connect to or where can I hook this up? If anyone has done this, please help?

PIE search, pie search engine, pie search by car
Auxiliary PIE FRD03-AUX
Auxiliary interface for Ford vehicles
This gives you RCA AUX inputs that work with the SAT button (at least in my '04 expy).
I use a headphone to rca cable to connect to my satellite radio.
I also got a bracket that I installed at the same time that mounts the satellite radio just right of the factory radio.

Ford Mounts for iPhones, Blackberry, GPS and Satellite Radios
Let me know if you want additional help.

Thank you Jonathon, so let me double check this if I am reading everything right.
[back of stock radio] ----{PIE plug-in}----{stock radio plug}
Plug the PIE accessory into the back of the stock radio, then replug the stock stereo cord into the PIE accessory thus allowing the AUX button to control the sattelite receiver?
Out of curiosity, does that kit also power the unit, or is that a seperate kit?******cancel that question, found the answer.******

I don't think that I had to unplug the stock stereo wiring harness. The PIE system plugs in where the Ford $600 Satellite radio option would plug in.
I have an '04 that is satellite ready (has a SAT button, but no receiver) and this is how it worked for me. Let me know if you have any more questions.
For power, I just plug in to the 12V outlet on the passenger side.

ok, so I did some digging. Found a few things on Amazon that I think might work but I have a question. I found this,
PIE XM5-FRD03/S 2004-up Ford 5-Volt Satellite Radio Aux Input
but what exactly does the 5-volt part mean? I would guess that it also includes a power line to run to the satellite receiver? The output reading on my satellite radio is DC:5.2v will the 5 volt work or do I go with the 6 volt?

I would seriously look at the advice here in this column. Plus the newer satellite radios have the ability to pause for about 45 minutes. Once the memory is full you can skip through commercials (talk stations) or crappy songs. Plus this setup gives you and aux input (usually connected to satellite radio) that you can plug into an iPod. I bought a little device called a Blackberry Music Gateway that enables bluetooth audio streaming so that I can stream tunes from my blackberry to my truck with no wires. Love it!
