Never used chassis saver, but it should be like all the other rust inhibitor type coatings.
Get as much loose rust and scale off the frame as possible using wire brushes, wire cups in drills and grinders, etc. Then wash down with water, then use something like prep all Klean-Strip Prep-All Wax & Grease Remover - GSW362 to clean/degrease it and wait for it to dry then paint it. heck, I bet you could use brake cleen to degrease/clean it off.

The frame was sandblasted and painted in Chassis Saver:
Here is a look 5 years ago when I started this project:

I painted a trailer just to see what the sun would do to the paint. ( I over loaded the spray gun and the trailer was there soooo ) The paint is no longer shinny .. its more of a flat black now.. only took it like 3 months to brake it down like that.
Just stuff that will be in the sun all the time you need to worry about. .. IF you were to paint the truck bed, or maybe your rocker panels, the axles are under the truck and should be fine.

Chassis Saver is good stuff..I did a trailer with it and it hasn't peeled at all. If you get it on your skin good luck getting it off. They say its a glossy black but when I've used it it has dried more of a flat color. And BTW...once you open the can and try to reseal it, it tends to dry up. So you are better off doing it in one time period.

You did a trailer .... Did you top coat it? All the glossy black I have used has had a great gloss to it. However I did a trailer and did not top coat it and let the sun destroy it and it turned more of a flat black. This stuff is not UV resistant its right on the can.
