had to stop and look, talk about sticker shock
we are a Ford family for sure, since I was 23, all I've had are Ford pickups. I currently own a 2004 FX4 F150, wife had a 2003 Escape 4x4, now has a 2010 Escape limited 4x4.
Anyway driving back from a hike through the park today, I passed my local ford dealership. Sometimes I stop on a Sunday when they are closed just to look around, see what's new. One truck caught my eye. It was an F-350, I guess a rust color. It was a crew cab with the 4 full doors. It had oversized tires, maybe 20 in rims?? Was the king ranch model, leather interior, had the 6.7 Diesel so I know that also adds several thousand to the price. Have to say truck was the most beautiful I've ever seen. and this place probably has 50 or so pickups in stock all the time. Truck must have had every option available when I read the window sticker, from moon roof to Sync, to nav system, heated seats, leather, power sliding rear window, etc etc.
Asking price, $65900.00 I almost fainted. That is crazy. Think I'll be getting another F-150 when the time comes.

Prices aren't really that different than the last few years. A F-250 XLT, 4WD and a few upgrades with the diesel only stickers for about 4k more than mine did, and that was over 3 years ago. You just aren't getting $10,000 off the MSRP for walking onto the lot anymore.
My 'Nav System" is still Rand McNally, my heated seats are my own fat cheeks, and my power rear window is my right arm. There won't ever be a need to spend $10k I don't have on the upgraded trim levels. Go look at the XLTs towards the back of the lot. Those are still reasonable trucks.

agreed. They had a sweet F250 SuperCab with the 5.4L engine, XLT, nicely equipped, 4x4, sticker was under $40k. Even that's a lot to me for a pickup but manageable. Almost 66k is absurd but hey if you can afford it, super!. I figured trading in my F150 my payments would be about $970 for 5 years

There is always a dealer hike up on the newest models, especially when there is a huge hype for them. I remember seeing a $43K V6 Mustang coupe when the 2005s hit the floor, and I about hit the floor right along with them! Give it some time, as the demand settles to meet the supply it will start to drop sharply. BTW, was it a dually or a single? 20" rims leads me to assume it is a single, but not sure what the '11s come with.

yeah, they have one up here in a dually 4x4 king ranch. i personally dont like the look of the grill but had to stop and take a look at it. i saw the price and was afraid to touch it. 69,499 on that bad boy! no thanks. my 97 should last a few more years.

The loaded 250s and 350s are awesome looking trucks. Im sure they run great too but the prices are ridiculous. These companies advertise these trucks for the "working man". Any working man that makes a half way decent living cant even come close to buying these trucks new. They have the right to charge whatever they want, but are these trucks really worth $65000? I dont think so.

George Pipas, head of Ford marketing, has admitted that the early mix of 2011 SDs has been heavily weighted to loaded up models. He said the best seller is still the XLT and expects the XLT to be the top seller by the end of the year.
BTW - A local dealer has a 2010 F250 CC, 4x4, 6.4, auto that can be bought for $34k. My Lariat 4x2 was under $37k. So shop around.

one I looked at was not a dually. It looked exactly like the truck on the home page of this site. Super looking truck like I stated, inside and out probably the sweetest one I've ever seen. But way too much bread for me. Like people have said, who the heck can afford this,
When the time comes guess I'm sticking with another F-150.

Those prices are why I put $2500 in my 03 the last two months. Figure five months of $500 payments and I am ahead again. That and the low trade offer, $8500 for a 350 4x4 Lairiat Crew Cab at 74,000 miles. Wasnt even the poor trade in value KBB lists. Only flaws was some rust on wheel wells and windshield. I added shocks, headers, all fluids, new hub and seals. Keeping it forever now.
