There is a company that makes a kit for the 7.3 SD's and I was looking into them, well they also offer a twin turbo kit, which is only for the 7.3 SD. Well reading into it, the small turbo is a S300, and the big turbo, well I forget. But I have been poundering a idea (Even doing a little scetching) of a setup for a S300 and a 76 Sledge. But I thought about seeing if I can get a H2E in 76mm and go that route (Cause from my understanding you should have the small turbo off the up pipes then the big turbo off to the side) and with a H2E is the same style they use for compounds on Cummins, so I know it would be way easier using it. Anyways thats the plan, that may never happen. I also thought about compounds with a supercharger. Then I could probably fuel it pretty good and it would still have superb street manners.

This is an interesting idea. Ive seen it done a few times in the mags and it sounds legit. I like the idea of no lag! Anybody have anymore insight on the supercharger/turbo setup on a 7.3? I assume this would be similar to a twin turbo, maybe a little better, less lag, but a little less plumbing at least.

Empire Diesel Performance has a supercharger to turbo setup for the 7.3 SD, which I assume could be adapted to out 7.3 and its a good picture

I'm exactly in the same boat as you are minus the pump to intall. But this will be my next move. Then turbo and E fuel.

I got the pump installed late thursday night and than put close to 1000 miles on the truck this weekend. I went unloaded over several passes. I averaged about 18 mpg's but I was deffiniatly pushing it so I'm extremely happy with that number.

I've noticed:
It runs better
it starts faster
more power on low end but a good power increase on the hi end

I was averaging 70-75 mph on this trip and when it came to pass I would push it and I'd have the speedo maxed without noticing... She scoots

It was an easy cheap mod and in my opinion a very important one

Thats sweet. Prior to the change what kind of highway mileage were you getting? What hp setting were you running on the chip for this trip?

I'm about 17 mpg highway with my stage 2's and 15*.

I kept it in 30hp tow the whole time (my favorite setting). I think I gained between 1.5 and 2 mpg's improvement.

Another thing I noticed is the black smoke was cut way down. Do the mod, I was impressed with the difference

Yeah you put the icing on the cake for this mod. Not like i was doubting that i needed more oil. I just like to hear the improvements from someone who has a setup practically the same as me.

It was easy to do. I labeled every hose and wire to make sure they were going back to the correct places. It was a messy upgrade though, my poor driveway
