You can tell by looking for the end that has the two small nubs.
When the orifice tube is installed, that end will face closest to you.
A tool is made that hooks onto the two nubs which allows you
to pull up on the orifice tube to remove it.
I have always been lucky enough to use small needle nose pliers to pull those tubes out. As I stated before, there is a reason why we have manuals with photos. Good catch!
