the right 5 speed? I hope

Just blowed a slave smoked the throwout bearing and melted the pilot bearing. While under there pulling the tranny back to get to this big ol mess i noticed a F1TA by a bar code on the tranny. Does that mean its a 91. MY truck is a 96 but had 155k when i got it and it could have been changed. it has a 96 slave in it and a 91 is different could that been the problem. How much play should be in the input shaft bearing? I can wobble the shaft a little.

should be pretty close to 0 wiggle on that input shaft. Yes that does mean that that transmission was made in '91, but since there is no difference in the trannys between those years, that shouldn't matter

OK so is there a difference in the 91 flywheel or crank since a different clutch and slavecylinder is required?

You can have an F1 part number from the factory on a 96 truck if the part is the same as the 91 part. Ford does not change every part number every year, they only change the part number if the part changed.

Casting numbers are NOT indicitive of the year of manufacture.. just the last time the casting was changed.
