Low air flow on AC and heater

I just bought my Ranger last week so I am new to Rangers and new to the forum. The air flow with ac and heat is low on my ford ranger. I can hear the blower change speeds, but on high, it barely comes out. The temp is fine and achanges from cold to hot like it should. i had the ac checked out by a shop that that does free checks - no problems with lines or compressor. I replaced the blower motor. The air changes from defrost to floor and all the positions fine, but the air flow out all the vents just isn't what it should be. It was working fine the first couple of days. I've read about the blend door motor, but I haven't read about people having this exact problem. I am almost to the point of bringing is to the dealer, but would rather fix it myself.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

Mark

Is there air flow through the defrost and floor vents with the switch on the vent setting?

Low air flow on AC and heater

Maybe this might help. It's from a 2000 Ford Windstar, but it should be the same principle. I'm going to say take a look at #19 on the list because that is what directs the air flow to either the vents or the floor. Hope it points you in the right direction.

and if there is airflow at the floor with it in the vent position, that is going to be the definite fix. Either a vacuum hose is disconnected or the vacuum control motor is bad.

No. The switch works fine in all settings. Air comes out the floor when in floor setting, defrost in defrost setting, etc. Just low air flow out all vents.

Does an 07 have a cabin air filter? If it does take a quick look and make sure it isnt clogged up.

The only other thing I can think of that would have affect on the blower motor would be the blower motor resistor. But that would only be the case if the blower fan only worked in one or two positions.

Pretty sure you'll be looking for that filter for awhile. They don't have one as far as I know.

In that case maybe the air intake is clogged?

As you can see from that very nice diagram from keydr the intake pulls from the interior in recirculate mode. Is there any difference when you switch to recirculate?

not too much difference. Ill try to vacuum the interior air inlet (#10 in diagram), but I don't know where the exterior inlet (#8 in diagram) is.

the internal air inlet is right behind the glove box, the outside air inlet is on the right side of the cowl vent, turn your key to the on position and switch it to vent and you'll feel the air being pulled in there.
