Got some junkyard trim...anything valuable?

This weekend I went to one of my local yards and picked up some trim pieces just because they were there. I got the black/anodized F O R D aluminum inset piece from the tailgate of a '69, the brown/anodized F O R D aluminum inset piece from the tailgate of a '79, two door trim pieces with good rubber, and the driver's side cab corner piece.

I also got full upper beltline trim for an 8' bed, in very good shape with the exception of one of the rubber pieces...it looks like it was rubbed against a tree. Along with that came an upper tailgate trim piece in brown/anodized. Pretty good shape considering the tailgate it came off. When I removed it, half of the tailgate came off (fell off) with it. It is all one piece and has the attaching bracket on the back. Has a couple of dings, but otherwise is nice. I haven't seen many of these, and I was wondering if it is worth anything.

Finally, I picked up two sets of uncracked shoulder belt covers.

I'm probably not going to use any of this trim, but I am at least going to strip and polish it all in case I do. I noticed in the Blue Oval book the door trim pieces alone go for $74.95 each, the bed trim is $139.95 per side, the cab corner pieces are $32.95, and the upper/lower tailgate trim pieces are $41.95 each. I don't know if the tailgate pieces they are selling are the same as the ones I have, but that's all I have to go on.

So far, that's a total of $588.60 before shipping. Blue Oval doesn't list the shoulder belt covers, but I wouldn't think they would be worth that much. I picked them up for no reason other than they were still there to get.

That would be the Blue Oval Truck Parts catalog.

Tons of numbers, but few pictures.

I'd be interested in the black tailgate piece and the FORD tailgate piece for 73-79's. I may still have a couple good fenders with the race track molding and the dent molding with the wide rubber insert. Interested? ETA: I still have those Ranger bucket seats that I had listed on craigslist too...

Great fines. I do the same around my way alot; I might not need it but I got friends who do. So I pull what I can to help them build their trucks.

the side molding is cheaper in lmc and stuff, but dunno if its the same quality as oem.

I guess there were like 3 different moldings that fit in the groove around the truck. Mine has the skinny stuff with no rubber, and then there were at least 2 other ones that had the rubber strip in the middle. From what I've seen, my style seems to be the hardest to find. One of my piece has a little dent in it but I am prolly just gonna have to reuse it as I can't find a reasonably priced new piece and I haven't seen any other used stuff for sale locally. I don't think it would survive being shipped. its very delicate.

The guy is getting ready to crush both the '77 and the '79 I pulled this stuff off of because there's nothing else left to sell...so I decided to get it while I could. After that, all he has is bumpsides.

I'm not going to sell the big black letter F-O-R-D trim from the '69. Got some ideas for how to use that...

I may use the brownupper tailgate trim myself, but I am going to hang on to it for awhile regardless. I'd hate to sell it, then want to use it, then not have it anymore. It's too hard to find. BTW- should there be a part number somewhere on any of this trim?

I would be interested in a nice gray cloth bench that will work in my '73 with little modification. I've actually seen several of our trucks with buckets, and now I'm not too keen on them. Someone told me they would be checking on a gray bench, but I haven't heard anything yet. Can't remember who it was.

I dont like buckets in a truck, particularly these trucks, they dont look right IMO. One of the charms of these older trucks is the big wide vinyl bench that you just dont see installed anymore.

I hear what you are saying about the buckets. Have you given thought to the 1965 ford truck ranger interior though? You are doing a shelby tribute so the mustang buckets with the falcon console would look cool in the dentside truck. I have never seen a 65 ranger interior in a dent.

wiring harness

how about the wiring harness that goes between the tail lights and plugs into the frame wiring? need one that has the plug intact, and decent sockets. i'm trying to piece one together, and it's not going very well.

Hey bowtie, if you decide your not going to use that upper tailgate trim, let me know! I'd love to throw a piece of that on my dent. Or if anyone else has one for that matter!
