1971-74 351c cobra jet. your head should be D1ZE-DA 73-76cc. Large valves with big port and open chamber.

D2AE-CA is probably the most popular block casting, it got built as 2V, 4V, 2 bolt mains and 4 bolt mains... in other words it could be anything until you visually determine what it is.

2L14 is the cast date, Nov 14 1972... so it's a 1973 model year production block. no way it came with D1ZE-DA heads

2L4 would be a cast date of Nov 4, 1972, also 1973 model year production. this is under the valvecover? are both heads 2L4 or is the other head different? most heads have a number(2, 4 or M) in the top corners at the edges of the valve covers, is this where you're seeing the '2's? if so they are 2V heads.

D3AE-9C485-AGA, that's on the valvecover sticker?

what intake manifold is on the engine, if there is one? factory cast iron, 2bbl or 4bbl? aftermarket?

here's a pic of the different ports, 4V, 2V & Windsor

2V exhaust ports are oval, slightly smaller than the intake ports. 4V exhaust ports are almost square, and the manifold has a scallop for clearance for the top bolt. the 2V X-manifold doesn't need the clearance around the top bolt because the port is smaller

yes on the heads is where the 2 is but the valves in the head are huge so im confused with the 2v and 4v it came with a cast iron intake with a 2bbl carb

you have the heads off the block? 2V valve sizes are 2.04" & 1.65", 4V valves are 2.19 & 1.71", Boss 302 had a 2.25" intake. it's possible, 4V valves get installed into 2V heads for various reasons but the 2V valves aren't small either

what are the casting codes on the heads, on the underside of the intake port runners?

these are stock 2V valves
