Anyone running 37's on an 04+ F-150??

Well, I have an 05 4x4. And after putting 40,000 miles on my 35x12.50-20 Toyo M/T's......it's about time to start thinking about the next set. The tires are only about half worn. But, lately, I've been thinking about upgrading to 37's. I was just wondering if anyone else on here was running 37" Toyos on their 04+ trucks.....and what their experiences were. Pics would be great too.

I know the 37's will be very brutal to the IFS. But, I've been impressed with the 35's thus far. 90,000 miles and everything is still tight. I had the same size tires on my 99.....and it didn't hold up very well. I finally quit driving it until I could "re-evaluate the situation". And I know that a Chevy IFS doesn't even tolerate 33's very well. But, so far - so good with the 35's. I drive it hard and tow a 15,000+ pound GCW. So, if it's held together this long, I may go ahead and push my luck with the 37's.

And, yes, I am aware this is the OFFROAD section....... Hopefully asking about an 05 isn't too far off-topic.......

Id check the local mall parking lot for info.

Id bump the gears up to around 4.56s and keep an eye on the front suspension components. Be expected to snap crackle pop the front CV shafts and etc if you ever wheel it.

i was talking to some guys in the late model section a few weeks back, and they were talking like 5.13's were the best with 37's. i guess the 5.4's are kinda gutless down low and make all their power at mid to high range. not many late model guys post much in here, but for a mainly street driven truck the 37's should be fine, but like kris said, if you wheel that thing it is going to cost you $$$$$$.

Ha......yeah, yeah....I know. I talked to some guys I saw at the mall the other day. They said if I get some chrome shocks, it will work . They also said removing my front driveshaft will help my CV joints last longer..........

Anyways, I'm already running 4.56 gears. This is my daily driver / tow rig, and there is no way I'd be hauling ANYTHING with the stock gears. The thing was marginal with 3.73's and STOCK tires. But it's unreal how well this thing tows with the 4.56 gears and custom tune. The 5.4 has PLENTY of low end torque(well, for a 330 cube engine). But the truck is just so HEAVY, with a HORRIBLE factory tune. The new Fords average about 500 pounds heavier than the competition for a similar model truck. And about 1000 pounds heavier than the EARLY Ford trucks. Try putting 1000 pounds in the bed of a 70's or 80's single cab truck with a small block, then lets talk about low end torque.

I wouldn't mind having 5.13's, but they aren't available for the front axle. I've been waiting for the new 9.75 selectable locker to become available though Ford Motorsport. But I'm about to give up and just put a Detroit in it.

I'm not really worried about the CV shafts. I don't "intentionally" wheel this truck. But I always seem to find myself in "certain situations" where I need big rubber and lockers. The CV shafts are actually stronger than you give them credit. And, if I do pop one, they can be changed without even jacking the truck up and removing the wheel. I would like to put some 31 spline Raptor shafts in the front axle. But, it doesn't look like those are available either. So....looks like I'm just gonna have to settle for a 28 spline locker in the front.

But don't get me wrong.....I'm not saying the new trucks are "all that". I still like the old stuff better. I have a 79 F-350 4x4 project that I can't wait to complete. And I have a TTB Explorer for trail duty. I even have a 52 F-6 all wheel drive....that I can't figure out what to do with.

I'm not exactly looking for advice, or "how" to do it. I was just hoping that there were a few in the Offroad Forum with a late model truck. Someone who actually uses and works on their truck. And not just someone who listens to what the guys at the mall parking lot say........

Anyways, here's some pics of what I'm working with. I took these next to a friend's 6" lifted GMC for scale.

Yeah, I forgot to warn you about the chrome 20's. They have an "Archimedes Death Ray" effect.....you should never look directly at them.

Anyways, I saw a 2005 supercrew at a used car lot last night. It had 37" Nitto A/T's and 20" negative offset wheels with only a body lift and some coil spacers. I wish I would have known you could do that........ I could have saved all that money I spent on a suspension lift.
