Any one know how or the signs that the fan clutch may be going out?

2007 F250 123k miles, mods in signature, run my sct with Matt's aggressive tow tune, when pulling. Had head gaskets and EGR cooler around 58k miles. Other than that everything else has been done when it should. EGT's and trans temps have been higher than normal, but don't exceed the safe ranges, possible little loss of top end power. No smoke, black, white, grey or blue. I have to have it on my race tunes to get noticable black smoke, which I hardly ever run anymore. No puking, very minor oil leak ontop of engine. EGT Temp issues show when pulling a load doesn't matter if it's 4k or 14klbs, wasn't always this warm , trans temp show when loaded or unloaded. going to change out the tp roll in the morning, someone said it may have not been installed right, so gonna check it anyways. Going to change fuel filters out also because it's just about time for them as well. All this seem to have started after the last trans service I had gotten done about 8k miles ago.

I dont really see were a cooing fan will do much for egts. unless the oil is getting to hot but Im not really sure that will even drive it. poor fuel could cause it, ecxessive fuel can cause it.

so far as the trans goes check blockage/debris in and around cooling fins on radiator and trans cooler.

cooling fan really dont give any signs of failers. when they fail most of the time will give a p0528 code. another issue is they will take longer then spec to enguage. a fan that cycles on and off alot is normally a sign of other issues be it headgaskets or failing coolers.

I haven't noticed it cycling too often, however when all temps were as they had been, I'd heard the fan kick in when I'd get off the interstate with a load. It would kick on for about 30 sec then go off and not come back on, seems like I haven't heard it much at all lately and I would think I would seeing outside temps are 20 to 30 deg hotter now. Wonder if the EGR is dirty.
I don't hot rod the truck anymore since I had the HG done and try to baby it as much as possible, I've driven over 60k miles in the past year and need the truck to last.

have you cleaned the front end out? bugs, dirt, and debris all will impeade airflow and cause the temps to elevate. be sure to use a water hose not a pressure washer to much pressure is a bad thing in that senario. might not be the total cause but i bet it might help. as cheezit said if your cooling fan is comming on regularly and its not 90+ you may have a bad oil cooler.

I've taken a water hose to it 2 times now, just with garden nozzle on it. Wish there was an easier way to flush it from behind. Haven't heard the fan cycling much at all, it's been in the mid to high 80's here now. Possibly making a 1200 mile run tomorrow with a 24'ft boat to Ft Lauderdale and back. You say possible bad oil cooler, you refering to the trans cooler?

Ok just changed out the TP roll filter, was red to blood red in color, hardly any goop in bottom of bowl, was a bioatch to get loose, thought I was gonna break the bracket. Installed filter onto unit pushed bottom spring on filter and filled bowl half way with SP and screwed back on. Changed out the fuel filters. Was gonna clean the EGR, but couldn't get it to come loose, any suggestions? Also rinsed out the front end coolers again, removed the vinyl cover from the grill and radiator frame and hosed everything down good, got more bugs, grass, sand and grime out. Hopefully this solves my issues.
