Picked up the truck today. They replaced the radiator and T thermostats. They found that the Tstats were sticking and concluded this was the cause of the radiator leak. All covered under TSB 09-23-1

TSB 9-23-1 is supposed to extend the warranty on all 6.4L radiators to 100,000 miles/5 years. I got this off a thread on here from back in march or april. I wasn't sure so I went back and found it but forgot to note the date. Anyway if you're under that mileage (or whatever it is in KMs) the replacement should be on Ford.

Thanks Stanley! I will get the tsb and see what I can do with the dealer. As I was on the road I was in a hurry to get home. No time to investigate and as I said earlier that is why I always read this site!!
Also I am at 65,000miles.

Leaking Radiator

Found my 08 F250 leaking about a week ago right on the driverside frame rail. I've got 24,000 miles but am over the 3 years. Took it in and $1,400 later I have a new radiator. They told me if I have an elongated thermostat that I would pay nothing. No surprise to me I didn't have the elongated thermostat. So I had to buy the new radiator. If all these people are still having problems even without this certain thermostat it leaves me to believe that its not just the thermostat.

Call Ford customer service. They'll take care of you and level with you. I am glad I got rid of my 08. I had more coolant issues up until 75k when I got rid of it. Still had coolant loss when I traded.

I have told people they should report it to NTSHA.gov.

Force a recall if enough make the call.

Leaking Radiator

Called Ford customer service today. They basically said I was sh*! outa luck. Until there is a recall theres nothing they can do. They also said that the TSB has nothing to do with covering the cost to repair it, which I thought was the whole point of the TSB. Guess not. I did go on to the ntsha.gov and report it though. So hang on to your receipts, 5 years from now there might be a recall.

I'd get rid of it soon as you can. You'll have problems again. But this is just my own opinion.

I got the same response from Ford Customer Service about my leaking (at the crimp) radiator. I have since submitted a letter with photos, reciepts for repairs ($1,150) but only requesting cost of the radiator ($788). I am fully prepared to file a Small Claims suit against Ford if (& I expect I will) get a negative response. Not that Ford will do much about it - but I am prepared to seek a judgment against Ford as the radiator was a known defect and there response to trucks already in service prior to 8/6/07 was nothing less than negligent.
Love the truck - can't stand poor customer service.
BTW - Truck goes in Thursday for the White Smoke fix.
08 F250 6.4 bought Sept 10, with 27K miles now has 31k

My 08 was built in Oct. of 07 and had coolant loss after a while. I never saw it on the ground. The Degas bottle would get lower slowly. I had 2 radiators, egr coolers, hyper thermostats and water pump because of the issues. Also they put in my venturi Tee in backwards. Who knows what that did from the get go. It was still looseing coolant slowly at 75K when I traded it. They said they fixed it. Ha...

My DEGAS bottle seems to rest about a half inch below the cold fill line. I put a small amount in a week ago, and noticed today it needed some more today. My truck sits on an incline so can coolant rest in the lines making it seem like its low? Or do I need to get on this TSB?

You really need to check it level, same spot when the motor is completly cold. That is the only what to determine the level.

always keep it above the min line as you don't want it to suck any air.

Are there any symptoms as to the coolant loss? Rust on the frame or white smoke?

No smoke or rust. I managed to spill a bunch of coolant, so that'll be tough to diagnose now. Thanks for the heads up Senix, I'll get her on level ground.

Have 33640 miles on 2009 f350 king ranch 4x4 super crew, took truck into dealer today for oil and fuel filter change today and they found low coolant in the overflow tank so upon putting radiator under pressure found leak on right front upper corner. I am going to mention about changing the thermostat also
