rear pop out window issue

2000 EB 5.4 4x4 with the rear pop out windows, when I open the pass side pop out it drops about a 1/4" and then I have to lift it to close. You can see the window drop on the hinges, I tried to tighten the bolts through the window with no luck they are TIGHT. I have this thing about putting to much force on a bolt that goes through glass. My question is how can I fix this? I could always TRY to tighten more and if need be head over to the glass shop when I end up with a million little windows. Thanks

The window is dropping in the front where it swivels? The window is sliding down on the bolts when you open it? If so then take the bolts out and put a plastic spacer between the glass and the hinge to take up the slack, then put the bolts back in and snug them down.(NOT GORILLA TIGHT) You can find thin plastic washers in the plumbing section of most hardware stores.

yes it is dropping on the hinge side, but its not sliding down... It is like a car door when the hinges get weak. open the window and the latch side drops causing the window to "rotate" on the top hinge, if that makes sense. I never even thought of using a spacer, I bet that would work. I have rubber washers in the garage Ill try. Thanks for the input, is there a tourque spec those bolts should be tightened to?

As far as the torque specs go, Im sure there is but I dont know them offhand. Are you sure the hinge isnt broken?

no the hinge isnt broken, I had the wife operate the button while I watched the window and looked at the hinge closely. You can see the latch side drop and the window slide in the hinge, the hinge doesnt move at all. I will take a closer look at it tomorrow when I take out that bolt and put in the washer.

I get it now. There may be a bushing that is missing from that bolt. If there is you will see it when you take it out.
