Fix for near-stripped striker bolt nut?
I was replacing the striker bolt on my driver side door the other day, and I was installing the new one, the nut "stripped" out. It wasn't totally screwed- I was able to chase the threads and straighten them out, but now I can't even snug down the new striker bolt without stripping it again.
I realize I can probably find a new nut at a junk yard or buy a new one, but I was wondering if I might be able to pull the existing nut and flip it around to see if that makes any difference.
Suggestions?
