97 F250 Shift to OD problems Manual Tranny
I have a problem when shifting into OD with my Manual tranny. I am now getting a vibration when I go from 4th to OD. The vibration gets worse the faster I am going. When in OD and crusing I get a little shutter that comes and goes.
I have done a lot of towing a 24' 10k trailer, the truck is a 4X4.
Anyone have any Ideas?

SMF conversion?
I got a shimmy like that in 4th to 5th or back down.
I've concluded that its the final drive in the trans, or that last sector shaft or whatever for the 4th and 5th gear. Mine only makes a fuss from 55-60.
I changed out u-joints, which were bad, but that didn't fix it, and I have no other weird area's going on.
The resonance from the motor from the SMF to the trans really makes things different, and the different gears do different things.
Generally there are some bushings in there that just get wore out.
I'd love to know the rebuild cost, but I'ma get a spare to rebuild first.
140k is low miles on a zf5, but the PO, if he drove it really hard or towed hard it coulda messed it up if it was neglected.
the zf5 is a strong trans, but they are not bulletproof.
Thats bout all i can think of right now.
I would pull out the drive shaft and check the u-joints before I worried about the trans at 140k miles.
