Crazy brainstorm and photoshop request 59 extcab?
ok so i was just sitting here daydreaming and all these crazy ideals started popping into my head leading my to one crazy ideal for my 59. i was thinking taking my 59 and making it an extended cab, with a 5.4l and 5sp, custom frame, 4x4, newer f150 front axel (TTB setup), short box flatbed, disk brakes, power steering , etc. etc. This would make a very unique truck and a really good daily driver with plenty of power. but i have some requests and questions.
Would some body be willing to do a photshop of this.
im thinking stretching it 18-24 inches. do you guys think it would look better if i stretched the doors a couple inches and then the rest behind the door. I would want windows in the ext cab portion so lots of metal fab.
Well what do you guys think of my crack head ideals. and suggestions and comments welcome,

Extended cab wouldn't be too hard. The best way I've come across it is to get a second set of doors and cut them for the gap. I'd say doing the roof right will be the hardest part, but if you add to it in the right spot it should be fairly straight forward, just can't add onto the end otherwise it will mess with the curves. This will give you your window and look fitting a lot easier than trying to mold everything to match the body lines and what not.

hmm very interesting i was thinking of using like an 80s ford ext cab window as it would be square to fit with the 59 style and readily assessable. the metal work would be a chore but with enough time it could turn out awesome. ill throw my plan out there for critique.
1.brace the crap out of the cab
2. cut the entire floor and firewall out (rusted and full of holes anyway)
3. cut the cab in half about the middle of the door and stretch it 2-3 inches (normally makes it look better)
4.finish this stretch
5. cut the cab following the very back of the door frame
6. add filler pieces (made from doors or custom fabbed)
7. weld it all up and metal finish it up
8.build and weld in custom floor
9. finish everything up and remove braces

When the companies that did this kind of conversion, they used doors from a Standard Cab & built the extension to fit the all ready made doors.
Rather simple if you think about & a lot easier to accomplish than doin it any other way if you wish to have a second set of door to exit from for the Crew Cab configuration.

yea i was thinking of making it an extended cab instead of crewcab and i was also thinking about building suicide back doors and making it a four door extended cab. This would involve extensive building of rear doors lots of detail working getting every thing lined up and latched right but would make for a really handy truck.
