My truck seems to be missing a little when it is idling, so I am just gonna replace the spark plugs to try solve this as it has been around 3 yrs since I had them done last.
I have been looking at the various plugs available but there is so many out there, ranging in price from about $2.99 to $29.99.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what is the best set to get for the price, and why is there such a difference in price of some plugs.

Cheap Motorcraft or Autolite is all you need. Anything else and your wasting $$ in my opinion.

 

motorcraft copper.

or autolite copper.

or ngk copper.

 

I've always used regular old Autolites in both my 79 and 95. No complaints or problems. I always put a fresh set in when I do my yearly tuneup.

 

autolite copper. its what i run, along with many other members. dont have anything bad to say about them.

 

I've got Motorcraft coppers in mine. Yanked Autolites out of it. I'd put in either. Stick with coppers.

 

What about spark plug wires?
Any recommendations?

 

Autolite 25's in my 302, two bucks a piece, give or take. Cheap copper plugs are as good as it gets for these V8's.

 

I was mostly happy with the Beldens I got from NAPA for my last tuneup. The only thing extra I would have wished for was to have the wires numbered. That said they were a very good quality part for a daily driver at a reasonable price.

 

Motorcraft or Autolites are the best for Fords.

I've used NGK's in every vehicle for the last 20 years without trouble. Check with rockauto.com they have plugs as cheap as .70c sometimes.

I have a set of SMP Premium plug leads on my f150 and I use bosch on all my cars.

 

ive got the taylor streetfire wires on my 300. i think they are like 8.2mm wires? either way they do the job. taylor makes and excellent product.

 

Motorcraft coppers & MDS 8.5 Supercoductor wires. Best wire specs & really last! About $70. but worth it. Especially if your running a 48 or 60K coil!
Double Plat plugs require more resistance to be overcome to initiate spark & make/leave too much heat in the combustion chambers. They don't like their gap stretched & surely don't accommodate side gapping. And I like to look in on my plugs more than once every 50-100K anyway. Also Coppers allow more base timing advance. I run a sidegap Motorcraft Copper at .056 gap (.044 is stock), 16 BTDC base timing w/ 87 octane gas. I can't do that w/ double plats w/o ping! Supercoductor wires, brass C & R, 60K (.45 ohm) HV coil. 87' 302 w/87k. 23mpg@65mph. Otherwise stock except K&N drop in filter & all fluids are Synthetic.

 

Another vote for Autolites. NGK coppers are nice too, but you can get Autolites anywhere.

For wires, I like the Bosch wires that Autozone sells.

Make sure your cap and rotor are the brass-insert kind. The regular zinc-contact cap and rotor are much cheaper but will corrode like no other!
