Couple of Slicks I spotted at the Springthaw Show and Shine

Just wanted to share a couple of pics of some real slicks I saw a the first local car show of the year.

The first one is a 1966 F100 Camper Special according to the badging I'm not an expert so I present it as I see it.

Engine is a 428

Second one is a 66 Mercury

Both very sweet looking Slicks

Now that's a great way to start of a show & shine with.
Very Beautiful Trucks. I'm drooling myself!!!!! Never seen a Merc in my area; only at the SuperNationals.

Nice trucks for sure........now for my question, does the red one (Ford) have a Mercury horn button/ring?

I'll go look at mine. It has the original, although they could be the same.

They are both the same as mine. I would guess they are the same weather on the Ford or the Merc.

Zip, what does yours show or say?
They don't look like Ford ones I remember.

Here is a pic of mine. Kind of a sprocket with a lightning bolt through it.

Anyone have any ideas on what kind of tray that is in the bed of the red truck.

I am also guessing both trucks are owned by the same person. Too many similarities between them.

I believe the instrument cluster bezel (surround) is made of plastic and the small swirl pattern on the flat portions around the gauges is intended to simulate a 'turned metal' look, it is patterned to be similar to what came with the Custom Cab package, however the OEM bezel had a smooth surface and was gray in color.
That one is chrome-plated plastic and is sold by some of the aftermarket parts sources. Last time I looked at one, just for the fancy plated bezel was well over $100....

I would guess that it is a removable pan used to protect the box bed surface from cargo scuffing... ?

The exact same bezel was used with the Custom Cab package-with exceptions.

however the OEM bezel had a smooth surface and was gray in color.
Sorry, that's in-correct. You're basing this description on a tired old bezel, that the chrome had faded away or flaked off.
C5TZ10838A .. Instrument Cluster Bezel ~ Chrome plated plastic with Engine Turning Design / Obsolete/Reproduced.

Fits: 1965/66 F100/250 2WD & M100/250 2WD Custom Cabs, Rangers.

The two bezels on the above Custom Cabs are reproductions, you know how to tell the difference?

The repops do not have the flat argent paint that was used on the underside of the lip to reduce glare, otherwise they are exactly the same as the original.

The Oil and Amp Guages were an option on all but Camper Specials.

Ford did not offer a bezel with cutouts for the gauges. If someone wanted to add them after the fact, a hole saw was used to make the cutouts.

Standard Cabs, F350/1100's came with a painted steel instrument cluster bezel used w/the round speedometer.

Custom Cab 4WD's, F350/1100's came with a chromed steel instrument cluster bezel used with the round speedometer.
