'00 Oil Filter location??!

I just bought a '00 Ranger XLT 4X4 and can't find the friggin' oil filter!!! Nothing in the owner's manual about it either. I'm no idiot here, I've owned a dozen or more vehicles and never had a problem locating the filter. Is it in a housing of sorts, hidden from normal view??

Thanks!
TR

yer oil filter is on the pasengerside of the block. it is kinda difficult to get to and a lil hard to find. you can only see it from the bottom side of yer truck.

exactly right,

Its not hard to replace and a simple band wrench will work.

Its upside down as it should be, which makes pre-filling a breeze.

Oil Filter sockets were made for a reason, and most ranger V6's are it.

my 98 w/ a 3.0 was easy to get to. i thought about gettin a filter relocating kit fer my 4.0 but in not sure there is enough room there to put it on the block. it sure would be nice though!
