Yeah, I agree. Gearing probably had the most to do with the disparity between his van and our trucks.
Your 3V makes comparable power down low, but your short first gear allowed your engine to climb up and sing near peak HP far sooner than Bill's 4R100 did.
Had he had PI heads and a shorter first gear I think things would have been significantly different.
