The End of the Nation as We Know It

I find this to be amazing:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast....ap/index.html

I wonder when the US gov. will start to randomly open written mail? I wonder when they will start to monitor phone conversations with software looking for certain word combinations? A national ID card?? I am sure it is right around the corner! Maybe a law that allows the US gov. to peak inside your computer whenever it wants? After all, this is in the name of protecting our freedoms and our way of life!!

I truly feel we are witnessing the begining of the end of the United States or America as we know it!
I'm not talking about the constant gradual change that is ever present in any organization, but rather a sever and sudden change that most of the citizenship is unaware of. The sheep of the United States will wake up one day and say "Holy crap ! What's happened...?"

If we get to the point where the government has this much freedom in limiting our freedoms
there will be only one solution to the problem- the same solution that is always used when a people become oppressed and abused by the officials "elected" to protect them--- violent revolution!

Maybe I am jumping to conclusions and over reacting. I probably am....I'll just go back to my job and family and be a good citizen and do what I'm told.....

(P.S. ---> Hello Mr. Carnivore! Did you take note of this post?)

The End of the Nation as We Know It

First it was the War on Drugs. Now it's the War on Terror. What's next???
OK, so in the 80's, they decide to start legislating more and more liberties to the law enforcement agencies to strip us of our Constitutional rights, such as the laws against illegal search and seizure and the entire Fifth Amendment, in the name of the War on Drugs. If you get caught with a felonious amount of drugs in your car, BAM, you forfeit your car, and you don't get it back if you are aquitted of the charges. Same goes with your house. They can seize any asset, including investments, if they deem that it was purchased or obtained with funds from the sale of drugs. And they don't have to prove anything.
They could legalize every drug out there, but they wont EVER get rid of those laws they have passed to eliminate those freedoms. They accomplished a great goal of the wealthy upper class that controls our government: strip the common man of his rights for the benefit of the wealthy man. Look at how prisons are becoming privatized....
Now we have this "War on Terror". Yeah. I just flew to Syracuse last week, and I went through 4 airports to get there. I could have gotten a sharp object on ANY of those planes, security was so lax. The terror war is another facade behind which hides more freedom stripping legislation, except this time, it's all about being able to search your person without a warrant, automatic warranting for home and business searches, wire taps, mail searches, e-mail audits of the private sector...the list goes on, and that's just what was contained in the Homeland Security Act (along with commutation for several major corporations guilty of tampering and illegal trading practices. Security my arm!).
Fact is, we are being screwed, we have been screwed and we will be screwed, and there's nothing peaceful we will be able to do about it. You can forget about having privacy, and you don't really have it now. If you go out in public for 2 hours a day, you are on surveillance cameras an average of 5 times.
Call me paranoid if you want, but you can't deny that what I said is scary schlitz.

...all these concerns are the reason why I vote libertarian now. I'm a conservative person, but I don't beleive the government should be as large as it is. I think the government has long since outgrown it's own usefullness, and it's time they take a step back, and give us our freedom, and our money back. I hate progressive tax, and I hate most any government-sponsored groups, save our armed forces, teachers, and emergency rescue workers. I agree, this homeland security act is a blatant violation of public privacy, and it really does make you wonder where it ends. I think Amercia will start to realize how overgrown our government has become, and will eventually start voting for people who are dead-set on cleaning house. I couldn't agree more that Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Ben Franklin would be disgusted at what this country has come to, which is pseudo-socialist at this point in history. TK

The government which governs the least, governs the best.

I take anything from the Communist News Network with a grain of salt. I can't believe that with the left erroding free speach, religious and gun rights for year that they have the gall to complain about "rights".

Well those things are happening now in Communist Canada, Gun control Eastern control of industry, media, government, military.
Things in the western part of Canada are getting worse year by year, we send all tax money to Ottawa, with Alberta sending billions of dollars to the east to be divided among the have not provinces, then they reduced medical funding to the provinces from 40% to 17%, so then the provinces and the local areas were all on their own for looking after their medical expenses.

Years ago when the Liberal government came to power, they killed a Multi-BILLION dollar deal for a bunch of state-of-the- art helicopters, then the day after the new government came to power they killed the deal, paying 500 Million $$$$ in cancellation fees.
Now the military is still using their Vietnam war era helicopters, some are even older.
In Yugoslavia, on peacekeeping duty they were using 35 year old armored cars, when they helped the U.S. on some bombing raids over there to, they were flying 20 year old CF-18's, these jets were not able to contact US planes or US ground control because they did not have the necessary encrypted radios.

And how many Canadian Forces families had to depend on food banks, just to be able eat?
I think that i'ts only going to get worse.

Iceland might invade!!!

"They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin, 1758

I'm with TorqueKing on this one - this kind of thing is the reason I vote Libertarian. Over the past 20 years it has gotten to the point where the choice between the Democrat and Republican parties is based upon which particular liberties you want to sacrifice.

This has been happening for a long time now, at least since Abe Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus. We have been forfeiting our freedom on a gradual basis. Most folks are not aware of it because they mistakenly think it does not directly affect them. Congress has been full of reactionaries enacting laws that erode our freedom, all in the name of Liberty! Figure that one.

Best thing I have figured, is to live life well, and work to change the awareness of those in your own world. Take on the public, in general, through local newspaper editorials. I also subscribe to the Libertarian Party and vote partyline when I can. It is a sorry state of affairs, so that is why we all must work to change the awareness of the myopic cottonheads that are all to willing to flush what little freedom we have left down the toilet.

The End of the Nation as We Know It

President George W. and Colin Powell are drinking in a pub close to the Old Town Square in Prague.

A guy walks in and asks the bartender,"Isn't that Bush and Powell sitting over there?" The barman says, "Yep, that's them."
So the guy walks over and says, "Wow,this is a real honor. What are you guys doing in here?" Bush says, "We're planning WW III." And the guy says, "Really? What's going to happen?" Bush says,"Well, we're going to kill 4 million Iraqis this time and one blonde with big *****". A little perplexed the guy exclaimed, "A blonde with big *****? Why kill a blond with big *****?" Bush turns to Powell, punches him on the shoulder and
says,"See, smart a..?! I told you no one would worry about the 4 million Iraqis"

you think that sooner or later the way our country is going there's going to be an uprising or a revolt in years to come. politicians are going to go too far eventually and the american people won't stand for it any more and the government will be looking at another civil war. is that scary to think about? you better believe it. but it's entirely possible. if my government started spying on me, and kept information on me, and took my guns away- then i would never support it. id probably fight against it to get my freedoms and privacy back. i don't see how anybody could support such a government. the future looks pretty scary doesn't it?

Chris; While you were sleeping the government is spying upon you, as you can't go into any government building, or airport, without being on camera and videotape. The government is keeping information on you by collecting taxes & social security. The government is in the process of taking our firearms away, look at cities like DC and NYC.

The real scary thing is yes, Americans support this activity, and condone it, through voter approval. Anyone that votes for Democrats, and even some Republicans, are voting by de facto to remove firearms from society and eliminate the 2nd Amendment.

Union bosses dictate that unions vote lock step with Democrats with no regard for the agenda besides what affects the union. Soooo dumb!

I don't think a violent revolution will ever work here in the US. It has to be done from the grass roots up. It will take a tremendous effort by the regular folks of the neighborhood. If they are too busy with jobs, soccer, and life in general, then they deserve what they get. I will be gone, so I just hope that the beacon lights are turned on soon, and the prevailing winds shift, and guide the ship of state back to the waters of freedom safely!

The End of the Nation as We Know It

Well - it being "scary", "sad" or a "sad state of affairs" is natural order, the natural course. And it's the way it is. Only Three things WILL remain, in the end anyway ...

There is evil in Islam - - - there is also evil right here, in our own society - in our own neighborhoods.

We (a sizeable, and growing, portion of United States as well as other "western" citizens) "TEND" to be on the same path as Sodom & Gomorrah.
We have "it" better than ANY society has EVER had it, we lean toward being spoiled.
Take this to the bank - Too much, of ANYTHING, even a good thing (which includes "Freedom"), is EXACTLY that - TOO MUCH!

There is/was a song, "pop" (I reckon - sort of a reggae, rappin' rock kinda' pop thing?), that was popular a few years ago that went something like this ...
*Don't be afraid of your freedom, Well I'm free, to do what I want, any old time * - a lot of young (and older for that matter, minority and otherwise) folks buy into this mentality - and it is, at least the second line, BS! It's a fallacy, incorrect - WRONG!!!

Too much of ANYTHING - too much oil in your crankcase, too many highway miles, too much food, heck, too much "health" food for that matter - is exactly that - TOO MUCH - and so on and so forth and on and on.

Things change folks - that always have and they always will - and they changed profoundly dramatic, drastic and tragic on Sept. 11, 2001.

Most change is slow - this was shoved down our collective throats - we had no choice but to chew very fast and swallow, rather GULP it down - this is unlike the 1940's - what are we going to do - nuke half the planet - I think not - I know not - or else, we are ALL doomed.

We can take on "So-damn Insane", perhaps Korea at the same time (though we won't be taking on Korea anytime soon unless their guy is COMPLETELY off his rocker (and he's not) - though he doesn't care two craps about his people, (he is not "humane" ) - it's in HIS "human nature" to live himself, to at least "survive".

But there are droves of "enemy" - virtually all of the middle-east, easliy more than half of Asia, most of our so-called "allies" deal w/us for one reason - cause we can buy `em and sell `em - or can we? Muslims are everywhere - they're here. And there ARE "good" ones - and there are evil ones - so what, there are evil Christians and Jews too - but ... BLOOD IS thicker than water.

Egypt, Greece, Rome - ALL fell from Grace - on our present course, probably not in any of our lifetimes (but do you think about your kids, kids, kids?) we, the mighty U S of A will need an overhaul, at best, one day - some day. 500 years or 50 years - I haven't a clue - but our great, great (great-great?) grandchildren will be NO LESS "HUMAN" than we, sitting here today, are.

This is Spiritual War w/ the Muslim extremists - and they are far too numerous and scattered to just fly around dropping bombs on them ALL - too many truly decent people would perish in that process, Christians included -

We need first (as is being done) arm & DEFEND ourselves, as ONE nation - and concurrent w/ that - and this is a personal "inside" job, we all MUST do it for our progeny - we must look deep w/in ourselves, examine our "values" our TRUE values (point a finger and you have three others pointing back at yourself) - and our beliefs - the beliefs that this country was founded on - I assure you it was NOT about control of others or legislating (by force/war) our morals, values, beliefs or ANYTHING else for that matter, on ANYONE else.

GOD BLESS & GODSPEED.

PS - Thanks for letting me spew!
