1954 F250

I am seeking the best route to go. I just picked up a 54 F250, the truck originally came with a flatbed. I think they may have called it a Courier. What I would like to do is put a short bed box on it and change it to a 5 lug. Essentially turning it in to a 100. So a few questions come to mind. 1. I am looking for the wheelbase for a 54 short bed (I am currently at 118") 2. Will an f100 drum to disk conversion fit on the 250 front spindle. 3. and finally, any rear axle recommendations for a 5 lug. I am going to keep the suspension stock. Any input will be useful and appreciated. Thanks

Yep, what he said. I'm not positive on the spindles but someone here I'm sure could tell you, lol.

When you look for a box, from 1953-1972 where the same. The only difference was after 56 they moved the mounting holes up like an inch on the fenders, very very easy to change. (weld and redrill). A lot of people use these for trailers, also try posting a want ad on craigslist.

This will give you a 5x4.5 wheel pattern.

Which, depending on what rear is had, can purchase the front rotor to match for a disc brake conversion. IE find a rear first, then go from there. And listening to me should be taken with a grain of salt.

I think they may have called it a Courier.

Actually, the "sedan delivery" (station wagon style) was what Ford called the Courier...My dad had a '53 when I was a kid...

I guess I should have explained what I was trying to end up with. I am trying to keep the trucks look stock but underneath I would like a more modern (v-8 carb) engine, drive train and braking. I am not necessarily talking "hot rod" but a respectable get up and go! So I guess what I am really asking is what combination would work best, considering all the possible factors (cost, fabrication, availability of parts)? This isn't my first project and I can find my way around the garage. But this is my first project that I am making total changes to the vehicles original equipment. I really want to do it right the first time!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
